Being a mascot for Chick-fil-A is a form of employment not without risks, according to the Fredericksburg, VA police blotter. A man working as the Chick-fil-A 'cow' at a local outpost of the restaurant chain was attacked during his shift, making him the victim of, as the report put it, "a bovine beat-down."

The victim, dressed as a cow, was standing outside the restaurant when he was approached by a man who yelled at him and pushed him to the ground, according to a release by Fredericksburg Police Department spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.

She said when another man intervened, the assailant ran away.

The victim could not give a description of the attacker, Bledsoe said.

One would like to assume this was a one-time targeting of the company's mascot, but alas, it seems violence has, nearly, struck before:

Here's a story story from KCRA in Sacramento from last March:

It takes udder courage to stand along a street in Elk Grove wearing a Chick-Fil-A cow costume.

But it's also a little dangerous, as 19-year-old Melissa Forsberg recently found out.

Forsberg was working as the restaurant's mascot and trying to catch the attention of passing motorists, but she ended up nearly being attacked by a passer-by.

Now, she finds herself without a job. Forsberg said she is upset with the fast-food giant for firing her after just three weeks on the job.[...]

Forsberg said she wants to see future mascots protected by security.

Mascot abuse is a fairly common phenomenon. They have been kicked, pummeled, had objects thrown at them from moving cars, and have been set on fire. With the tough economic times, expect more people to take their rage out on something perceived to be not-quite-human.

My local Chick-Fil-A bombards you with Mor.mon pr0paganda. They stuff the bag with more fliers than napkins- hate the place. The cow had it coming.

Yes, definitely complain. They are a very conservative Christian company based in Georgia, definitely not Mormon. Probably wouldn't be too fond of Mormon propaganda at their stores.
But the cow was an innocent bystander!

I think you're getting Chick-fil-a mixed up with Romneyburger

Nope, it just depends on which Chick-Fil-a you happen to go to. Anyone who did not smile or laugh while hearing the phrase "Bovine Beat Down" to describe the tackling of a guy in a cow costume, need to get out more.
