You mustn't criticize Israel. Because Israel is perfect and its poops smell of lemon juice and pledge furniture polish.

Pure B S about the bias in allowable content. No matter what your comment you just have to avoid straight out saying certain words because the c_e_n_s_o_r software pings your message if you do not.

I'm Jewish and am thrilled to hear Clinton call Israel on its disgraceful treatment of Palestinians. I wish she also mentioned its deplorable invasions of Lebanon. It infuriates me that in Israel itself there is open debate on these topics but in the U.S. anything short of kissing Israel's ass is considered anti-semitism. I'm also happily surprised about Clinton, whom I thought was too hawkish to be Secretary of State.

I am complete agreement with Sec of State Clinton. How would any human being feel if hundreds of houses were being built on their land like the Israelis are doing in the West Bank. Do the Israelis really want peace?

Or, how would you feel if you and 700,000 of your countrymen had been forced from your homes? That's what happened to almost 60% of Palestinians in 1948.

It is possible to support Israel without condoning all of their behavior.

It is as if Israel believes that the entire world and especially the United States should be their own personal yes men.

Yes, the holocaust was horrific, but what was Israel doing to prevent the Cambodian holocaust and the current holocaust in Africa?

Obviously not.

that's right.

What Israel should care about someone else's holocaust?

Not to mention that Israel was a supporter of the apartheid regime in South Africa.

Israel sold arms, suppression techniques and possibly nuclear technology to the former apartheid regime of South Africa.

I am Jewish also and I too think Secretary of State Clinton is courageous and right. The Jewish community is no longer monolithic, and Jewish leaders have to recognize that the days when every Jew was supposed to move in lock-step with Israel lest somehow this would increase threats to it, are over. That may have worked back in 1967 and 1972. But it is no longer just the victime, it also has been the victimizer. Israel has every right ot protect itself, and the Arab and Palestinian world needs to come to grips with the permanence of Israel. But that doesn't make every action Israel takes right. Getting criticism from its friends can be a healthy way to adopt a more strategic and effective behavior.

It is Obama you should call courageous. It is his ideas she's representing, or both of them if you will.

The line is always the same: "anti-Israel"= "anti-Semitic" = anyone who dares to question any aspect of
Israeli government policy. Actually I consider myself pro-Israeli, and as such think the Lebanon war, the Gaza invasion, the wall and the settlements are the true anti-Israeli acts, as they have done nothing but make peace impossible, brutalize and radicalize the region, and undermine the security of Israel (and by the way of the United States). These blind propagandists like Zuckerman have to be called out, the truth has to be spoken. And we can't ignore history: the Jewish extremists who killed Rabin and shot up
the mosque in Hebron, Sharon's "invasion" of the Temple Mount which provoked the first intifada, the use of cluster bombs in Lebabon and white phosphorus in Gaza, constant bulldozing of houses, olive orchards...... these have done even more to betray the true interests of Israel (and the US) than Hamas' rockets, no matter how horrible. The extremists on both sides cheer each other on...we need a new way that truly looks forward, and treats all lives as of sacred value.

As a J E W whose mother STILL has numbers t.attooed on her forearm...

As a J E W whose father helped Zimmel Reznick smuggle g.uns into I.srael in 1947..

As a J E W who holds to the tenets that ALL people are worthy of respect & consideration..

As a J E W who is proud of his cultural heritage & is EQUALLY proud to be an American..

I APPLAUD Secretary of State Clinton for her CANDOR.. her HONESTY & her COURAGE to call to the front the A.TROCITIES that I.srael has committed against the P.alestinian people.

As the United States has FINALLY rid itself of the neoconservative c.ancer that had threatened it's existence... I.SRAEL must do the same & resurrect the DECENCY & the HUMANITY that once was their calling.

To paraphrase I.sraeli novelist David Grossman...

We MUST acknowledge that the germ of cruelty can infect ANYONE...the MOMENT one erases another person's humanity....the moment one begins to speak a "mass language--a language that will consolidate the multitude and spur it on to act in a certain way, formulating justifications for its acts and simplifying the moral and emotional contradictions it may encounter."

Hillary...when you hugged and kissed Arafat's wife...did you ask her what her husband did with all the millions he stole from "his people"??? Did you ask her how she was "supporting the cause" by living in a luxury villa in Paris?? I didn't think so!!

If the US is to be balance why Dennis Ross--was basically the lawyer for Israel
as OUR envoy to the middle east--what would Rham do?

Jewish leaders of whom? These feckless leaders do not speak for me and never will. I do not abide by group think. It is about time that American political leadership stands up for a morally balanced approach to the crisis in the Middle East. Soon, the dreaded accusation "anti-Semitic", will raise its ugly head--shame on you.
