nytimes.com:

While scarcely any expert would criticize parents for paying attention to children's diets, many doctors, dietitians and eating disorder specialists worry that some parents are becoming overzealous, even obsessive, in efforts to engender good eating habits in children. With the best of intentions, these parents may be creating an unhealthy aura around food.

my kids picked up unhealthy food phobia's from somewhere... don't know where... they are 10, 8 and 6. I think Nickelodeon aired some healthy food commercials between cartoons and there is a BOATLOAD of kids who are anti-sugar now. Its weird. My son out right refuses to eat high-fructose corn syrup... Its' good but its also kind of obssessive if you ask me.

I don't really like this article.

1) Avoiding pesticides and preservatives is not the same as eating less or eating healthier. Granola has fat, organic cheese has fat, organic nuts or meat. And they're all delicious! I could definitely get fat on organic foods, but that might be better than all the "fat free" imitation stuff ten years ago.
2) Okay so they might not have cake at a birthday party... so? They should never have to decline something? Most cake isn't that good anyway, like 30% frosting and mushy cake. If everybody got a personal pan pizza, should they have one as well? A lot of parents wouldn't want them to have that snack.
3)The person dropping to 68 pounds is exceedingly rare and she was going to do that regardless of the foods, IMO. Even 20 or 30 years ago as well.
4) Was this influenced by the food industry? I'm much more concerned about those who can only afford unhealthy, corn syrup and salt based foods.
5) These kids are much more likely to stay under their recommended sodium and get the daily servings from the food groups, though I know that's kind of defunct.

Kids being anxious is a larger issue. There could be a much longer article about anxious kids eating the usual marshmallow cereals, canned foods, and McD's twice a week. Organic food could relieve stress.
