Robin Williams

NEW YORK — First Will Ferrell. Now Robin Williams is coming to Broadway this season.

The comedian says he will perform his one-man show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," for five performances at the Neil Simon Theatre, April 28 through May 3.

Williams has been on an 80-city tour of the show.

The comedian says: "The current state of the country's political and economic climate, while so hard on so many people, has been like gold for a comedian. There's just so much that's ripe for the picking."

In 1978, while working in California alone, coming from Connecticut, I found myself veritably stranded by my bosses, short of money. I would take a motel room a couple of days each week so as to be able to have a good shower and a bed, living out of my truck otherwise. It was a depressing situation to say the least.

One of the weeks I took a room I chanced upon "Mork an Mindy" and I haven't stopped laughing at the man since. He is a prominent remembrance of those days in California. Looking forward to that silly show each week made a big difference in being able to get through it.He's one hell of an actor, to boot. It's a little known fact that he studied acting at Julliard.

Thanks Robin.

Robin Wiliams has the fastest firing comic neurons in the world. He's slowed down with age, and his mind is still faster than anyone else.

Robin's the best.
It cracks me up how the dumright gets all frothed up when anyone talks about an intelligent progressive. Is the light he shines on your stupidity too bright or strong?

I saw his concert when he came to Portland in April, 2002. By the end of the concert, I was hoarse from laughing.

I saw Robin Williams at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle last year. I had won front row tickets from my favorite radio station, KMTT, 103.7 The Mountain. I was not feeling well (it turns out I had pneumonia) but his comedy transcended that and I felt wonderful during the show. He is such a gifted person, comedian, actor. I think he would be a hard person to live with -- kudos to his family -- because he seems to have no "off" switch. He constantly riffs on different subjects and works audience foibles into his act effortlessly.
It is a memory I will always cherish and that can always make me giggle.
Thank you Mr. Williams!

I love Robin Williams as an actor (Dead Poets Society), but can't stand him as a comedian...
he's not funny, and just does stupid voices...it always seems like he's "on" something when doing standup

Topper. . . pull out a dictionary. You may not like the guy, but Williams is anything but 'mentally dull.'
