I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Have you ever wondered what Barack Obama would look like in a Native American headdress? Or Blue? Or with a giant eye in his forehead? No? That's unfortunate, cause if you had the site badpaintingsofbarackobama.com could've solved these dilemmas for you.

The folks behind the site have collected dozens of terrible, terrible paintings of our president and made a site that is essentially a single slideshow of them.

Here are a few samples of the work available (the titles are mine):

Barack Obama As He Would Appear In A Boyz II Men Video: In this piece of art President Obama emerges from a shimmering body of water, where he has just finished playing with a unicorn, to give you (his one true love) a dozen roses that leap out of the water every time he takes a step. (Note the shiny initial-embossed cell phone.)

Barack Obama Is Responsible For The Entire World And Should Look Like It: Barack Obama is the sun, moon and earth. Rays of light eminate from his skull, and the world spins in his forehead. Also, his veins are our rivers.

Barack Obama And "Different Strokes"-Era Gary Coleman Had A Baby And Named It Barack Obama: I think the title says it all, it's creepy, but adorable.

Have you ever wondered what Barack Obama would look like in a Native American headdress? Or Blue? Or with a giant eye in his forehead? No? That's unfortunate, cause if you had the site badpaintingsofb...

Why is his shirt open and he looks like the missing Bee Gee brother?

I believe that the curator for the Museum of Bad Art might take an interest in some of these paintings. Who knows? They might hold an Obama exhibit:

Reminds me of those bad pictures of Dr. Martin Luther King that don't even look like him, or those drawings of Beethoven that just look like any balding guy, or those pictures of Jesus that make you wonder, 'The Hebrews were blond back then?'

"or those pictures of Jesus that make you wonder, 'The Hebrews were blond back then?"...LOL!
What happened to the hair of wool and feet of brass?

Some of them were nice tries, others were laugh out loud hilarious. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the portrait of Obama with the Hispanics on the south lawn. Why is he wearing a taco on his head? Why is he doling out underwear to these naked Hispanics?

I suppose the theme for that painting is that clean underwear is a fresh change that you can believe in.

I don't think they're bad at all...I can't draw stick figures, so if someone was moved to make these and had the talent to do so, then bravo!

Art is art and is an individuals artist perception of the subject. Being a painter myself, art should never be an exact picture of the subject matter. I like the Boyz2men and the Gandhi one. :-)

I like 'em too. Just think about a John McCain painting ... ;-)

I agree, but some of these are really funny!

There is never a consensus on art. The greatest artists all had their detractors. If I were any of these artists I would appreciate the attention. Any press is good press. Jeff Koons is highly successful, and many critics eviscerate his work. Bottom line, who cares.

huh. I kinda like the ones I saw on the site.
Each artist is trying to say something they feel.
Who are we to judge that?
I found many of them to be quite charming.

guess I know nothing about art, then.

It should be like singing. I don't sing well, but then I'm singing because it makes me happy, not for your entertainment. Ever consider that maybe these artists aren't painting to please you but rather meeting their own needs?

Not sure they should take such license with the subject. However, they are talented artists, but they won't appeal to everyone.

I feel bad for any of the artists that are listed there. To have your work deemed as "bad" is an artist nightmare. I guess I am projecting a bit because my dad was an artist. He would have never done ANYTHING like the stuff I see here though. OK, I am bragging now so I'll hush. :D
