I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Washington Independent:

The crowd of about 100 people sits in the dark, hushed, mouths agape, as Gov. Sarah Palin watches clip after clip of 2008 presidential campaign coverage. She peers at a laptop and watches Saturday Night Live star Tina Fey, as "Sarah Palin," answer a question about moral values.

"I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers," says Fey. Briefly, we see the hosts of The View, laughing along with the skit.

Palin is looking significantly older than she did a year ago. This would not detract from a female candidate of substance but I predict will cool the ardor of some of her male fans three years from now.

Yep she's looking a little worse for the wear isn't she? Needs a touch-up job around her temples and her skin looks so dry she could use a good re-hydrating facial. Snowzilla is def looking her age.

But check out those tattooed lips - they draw attention to her thin upper lip. She sure has that gritted set to her jaw even more nowadays too, since the campaign didn't turn out the way she planned. Oy vey!

For a person who cannot respond to "What do you read?" with a more intelligent response than, "All of them," she deserves to be held accountable. Any fool could have said, "Business Week, U.S. News and World Report, Time, The Washington Post, The New York Times," etc. Even if she NEVER reads them, a better response would have been to hedge a bit.

My all-time favorite, of course, is when she was asked what international experience she would bring to the job of vice president, and she responded, "Because Alaska is right next to Russia." How WEAK! Why would she NOT be ridiculed?

She's a disaster, and she's being touted as the next GOP "star." Man, is that group desperate!

They think Bush got a raw deal, especially after Katrina?? WHAT?? This was a president who did nothing to help the citizens of this country at ANY time. Hillary Clinton got a much worse beating by the press than any other woman, apart from Pelosi. Palin is a lightweight, no substance, not too knowledgeable. That is exactly how she "came across" just as she is. Surely the repubs. can find another beauty pageant runner-up with more intelligence than Palin. They are still harping on the "liberal media", proving how out of touch they really are.

Yes I agree. But for her as long as she continue to make the media her excuse for her failure and the Republicans buy it, that is going to be her comeback! I am not saying that the media doesn't have its fault when it comes to women, but as my children would say to me, "suck it up". I would admire her more if she would have just put this behind her as a lesson, and move on to another strategy of how to improve her image. Instead she whines, and play the blame game.

I am a black woman who has been there done that, and now know that blaming is not where to go.
Yes. there are obstacle to get by, and we have done that as women of color, whites, hispanics. Look how far we have come! Republicans, and Democrats' women. Our minds have to be strong like a football player being able to tackle and knock down anyone that is in the way, and if we are knock down just get back up and do it again. Don't blame that situation that you can't move out the way,
by saying it was too big or strong. There is always a way.

Oh how the conservatives love whining about the culture of victimhood, until it comes to themselves.

Get over it. What media do you read isn't a trick question, it is a puffball, And taking the absolutely obvious answer out of the question is a standard interview technique to get someone to go beyond the obviously scripted answer. I mean gee, why would anybody expect anybody to know about a Supreme Court decision other than Roe v. Wade? It's the only one that is important!

And then they treat Tina Fey and David Letterman like they are part of the Media! I know it may be tough for a crowd that thinks that Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are serious media, but Fey and Letterman are comedians.

sarah, get over it. you got your shot and you blew it. nobody tried to hurt you, you did it yourself. plez save us the whining. you hated the msm so much that you jumped at first chance to the on tv after the election. plez stay up there and pick up a book and learn about the issues so that you can talk intelligently instead of playing the labeling game. btw, don't pal around with the russians, even if you can practically see them.

The media handled Palin with kid gloves. There a bit of a stretch between Tina Fey's comedic, but benign, send-up of Palin and Rush Limbaugh's cruel mockery of Michael J. Fox.

Yeah, they were against her from the beginning: they showed and printed what she said, and allowed her to make a fool of herself by being unable to answer even the simplest questions. Anyone notice that the passengers interviewed after the Hudson plane crash were more articulate and less nervous than the governor, who was supposedly ready to lead the free world?

If she couldn't handle Catie Couric, how do you figure she'd do with Kim Jong Il?

Reminds me of scene I once witnessed- A man was loudly berating his child in public, apparently caught himself, and blurted out to the child "You're making me look like a fool"!

Isn't she the same woman who criticized HRC for whining about media treatment? Rethugs are a j.o.k.e.

Is this the same CPAC that CHEERED the death of the American newspaper?

By all means; let's listen to their opinions (ROLLING EYES).

it's not just Palin - it's ALL WOMEN. ALL STRONG WOMEN are treated like crap by the media. Ask Hillary Clinton.

Hillary really wanted her failure to be the fault of someone other than herself. That's weak. Obama did not blame anyone else for the failure to win New Hampshire, and there were no firings, just lessons learned. Blaming the media is way too easy. Hillary ran a campaign that repeatedly lost focus, and was fighting a conventional battle against an opponent who had figured out how to beat conventional. Super Tuesday proved that, and made it nearly impossible for her to stage a comeback. The media was incredibly kind to Hillary not to dwell on that statistically impossibility for the several months after she had already lost the race.

Um.

Are you saying Palin -- who criticized other women for saying the media is sexist -- is a strong woman?

She's a superannuated cheerleader and a cheese-brained figurehead.

Compared to the way the media treated Hillary and Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi, etc.... Palin was given star treatment. She had every chance to show there was something more there than a very expensive wardrobe.

And all she proved was that she was a REALLY bad candidate for public office.

Palin pulled out of CPAC, at the 11th hour, because she started SarahPac. These Republicans are clueless how dysfunctional their family is.

Yup, that nasty, tricky, biased media. They asked her questions and expected intelligent, coherent answers. What nerve!

The media just doesn't get it. They were supposed to overlook all of Sarah Palin's faults and instead give her a makeover. They were supposed to be the lipstick on the pitbull. Why couldn't they understand that everyone else is open to scrutiny and ridicule but not Sarah Palin?
