Robin Williams Cancels 4 Shows Over Health Concerns

NEW YORK — Robin Williams is canceling several performances in Florida of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath.

The comedian says in a press release that doctors are evaluating him and recommended a week of rest. Williams had been scheduled to perform Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa.

The four canceled shows will be rescheduled, and tickets for those performances will be honored when the new dates are announced.

The 57-year-old actor will continue his 80-city comedy tour on Monday with a show in Jacksonville.

It seems like every week some celebrity announces that he or she has
cancer. It's all very distressing and frankly annoying as hell. We Americans
have donated enough money to the American Cancer Society and other
such organizations to have seen major breakthroughs. But I suspect each
of these research foundations jealously guards any advances so they
can be the heros, thus slowing down everyone and leaving millions to
suffer, die, or spend a fortune on treatments. You're all doing something wrong
if it's you this $#$# long.

Robin Williams has the ability to be extremely hilarious or extremely annoying, sometimes both. That being said, he's a legend, and I wish him the best. He played with fire in his younger days and survived, so hopefully his health will keep him going for years to come.

Williams is borderline nuts, and thats what it takes to be a brilliant comedian. He channels a thousand voices and personalities so well, that its scary. I don't think there's another comedian that makes me laugh till I cry as much as Robin Williams.

Favorite scene: "The Fisher King" -- The RW character takes off his clothes in the park and dances around exclaiming, "Let the little guy breathe!" (And later, same movie, after a first date with the new love of his life: "I've got a h.ardon for you the size of Florida".... The only guy arguably funnier is Sacha Baron Cohen in "Borat".

IIMHO, Robin Willims is a good comedian and a decent human being. Not as great as the late George Carlin, but approaching.
