Robin Williams Cancels 4 Shows Over Health Concerns

NEW YORK — Robin Williams is canceling several performances in Florida of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath.

The comedian says in a press release that doctors are evaluating him and recommended a week of rest. Williams had been scheduled to perform Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa.

The four canceled shows will be rescheduled, and tickets for those performances will be honored when the new dates are announced.

The 57-year-old actor will continue his 80-city comedy tour on Monday with a show in Jacksonville.

oh gosh, I am so worried about him..I adore his humor and even the mania, but it seems like an exhausting tour. i think he and Springsteen pour out their souls for the audiences and it is really tremendously draining.. and his acting is wonderful also... Has he won the Mark Twain prize yet?

Thanks for posting this story. Robin Williams is at the top of the list of comedic geniuses of our time. I'm one of Williams' millions of quiet fans out here in TV and movie land who never write a fan letter or go to a live show but who laugh out loud at his brilliant take on things. I think the work he's done is absolutely the most brilliant and funniest I've seen. I wish him well and will be sending positive thoughts his way.

The list is long and at the top of the list is Robin Williams. When he is

"Shortness of breath" is often used by doctors as a euphemism for anxiety. Mr. Williams is a pro in his business, but I guess it can happen to anybody.

Further details released today indicate he's going in for heart surgery due to a bad aortic valve. That would definitely cause shortness of breath. Let's hope he comes through the procedure in go shape.

Robin as a stand-alone comedian has always been hilarious. His movies, however, are not hilarious. Two different mediums. After all these years, directors and writers have only succeeded in utilizing Robin's talents a couple of time (Good Morning Vietnam as an example). Usually they fail to understand his genius and try to cookie-cutter him into roles that don't work. He's a master actor when a director pulls in his reins (Awakenings, Good Will Hunting), and is a master comedian when given free rein (Aladdin).
