NEW YORK — Robin Williams is canceling several performances in Florida of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath.

The comedian says in a press release that doctors are evaluating him and recommended a week of rest. Williams had been scheduled to perform Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa.

The four canceled shows will be rescheduled, and tickets for those performances will be honored when the new dates are announced.

The 57-year-old actor will continue his 80-city comedy tour on Monday with a show in Jacksonville.

You don't look a day over 30! :)

However, I agree. Where does it go?

PLEASE take it easy Robin. You are too talented and funny to be gone this soon. Take ALL the time you need. I want to be hearing you on late shows and on tour well into this century. Just like Mr. Warmth himself Don Rickles one of the other great comedians.

Be well, Robin! You are a true national treasure and your fans and family want you around for a good, long time!

I thought he'd had bypass surgery or heart problems in the past. I hope not, and I hope he's OK now. Sometimes normal shortness of breath (fatigue, over-exertion) can lead to panic attacks= more shortness of breath.

He may have to do what Clinton did- get thoroughly checked out. Some of this stuff doesn't show up on most tests. My mother's didn't.

My nephew works in Vegas.
One night after Robin Williams had just done a show there, my nephew saw Williams and his wife sit down at a black jack table. My nephew quickly took a seat at the table before the management stopped anyone else from sitting there. He played cards with Williams for 3 hours. He said Williams cracked jokes non-stop and slipped in and out of different characters the whole time.

My nephew lost about $300 at the table and he said it was worth every penny because it was as though Williams had done his stand-up act just for him.

Having had the joy of watching Robin Williams together with Jonathan Winters is a pinnacle experience for me. When the two combine, their minds act like uranium and fizzzzzz. I have never seen such spontaneously hilarious stuff in my whole life. Nanu nanu, Robin. You are in our hearts.

Robin Williams has said that Jonathan Winters was his greatest inspiration and the comic he most looked up to. I envy you for having seen them together.

Transformed my life almost as much as Mad Magazine and the eternal Frank Zappa.
What a cocktail of cerebral input! Yes siree.

You saw BOTH together? I am officially jealous. That must have been practically historic.

Given Williams' previous drug experiences I hope for this gifted performer's shortness of breath doesn't translate to cocaine arrhythmia.

Well, he is at an age...could be the past catching up..on the other hand might just be an arterial blockage which can be dealt with...if so, he is lucky to have had symptoms..many don't until too late

Favorite Robin appearance : Robin was on "Inside the Actors Studio" with James Lipton. James basically let Robin have a whole hour to himself. Hysterical!

Does this mean Robin Williams will have to stop talking for 5 seconds? He's always reminded me of an obnoxious, manic child... Shhhhh

If you have any "manic" children with his talents, please let me manage their careers.
I will only ask 5% of gross as my fee and you can have the other 95% and I shall
entertain your family on the yacht I earn from the work I do for you and the kids.
