Tina Fey On Fallon: Motherhood, Bad Hair And Boogers (VIDEO)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/04/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:05 PM ET

Tina Fey joined Jimmy Fallon for his second show and talked about how her toddler Alice indirectly writes parts of "30 Rock." The two discussed how busy they are now versus when they just thought they were busy doing "Saturday Night Live," Fallon showed a 2000 clip from a Weekend Update test the pair filmed and they admired their horrible hair of years past.

Fey also joked about the various ways she knows she's a mom. "There so many things that I do now that I'm like, I'm a MOM now. Like, when your kid hands you their boogers, and you take it."

jimmy fallon with a laugh track. that'll last a long time.

I liked this clip, it was funny. However, I think Fey contributed much more joke-wise than Fallon; she's cool. Fallon seemed nervous, but I suspect he'll get better as the days/weeks pass.

She's kinda cute and kinda funny and kinda talented but Tina should be thanking Sarah Palin every day of her life for making her famous and the impersonation was so so anyway. Tina Fey is starting to go down the Ricky Gervais road for me as I am getting sick of him too. Acually I AM sick of him already. Long live the UK office!!!!

Tina Fey was famous long before Bible Spice became the flavor of the weak. Her impersonation of Say-rah was spot on!

I know what that something is...it's the feeling I get watching an insect eat its offspring.

Tina, go away for a while. I know you were the ugly girl in high school who's now getting attention, but for the love of god... turn down a commercial or a guest appearance. OVEREXPOSED.

If I had my choice I'd watch her every day. She is attractive, funny, talented and soooo appealing in her own way....Sonnen must be a guy lover...

Please. She's helping out a friend, Jimmy even said it later on the show. They worked together on Weekend Update, which is obviously a big thing, and it's nice that she'd go help out her buddy when her career's starting to really pick up after last year.

Also, she's hilarious, so I have no problem with watching her a lot. 30 Rock is brilliance.

I'm astonished that some of you think a little time will make any significant difference.

We've SEEN Fallon before. This is IT. This is his "thing." He's had years in front of the camera reading jokes, and it has NEVER been good. His schtick is being a nervous, mumbly, awkward and giggly kid -- except he's not a kid anymore, and it's not cute. Maybe he got a lot of mileage off that formula when he WAS a kid, and cute enough that laughing along with the joke was enough to impress girls, but that pretty much only qualifies him to WATCH a comedy talk show now, certainly not to take the reins of that wild beast.

Successfully hosting a comedy talk show isn't just the big league, it's the All-Star game, and Jimmy is strictly sandlot ball.

If MTV still showed videos, I'm sure he'd make a fine VJ... far away from discerning viewers.

But you just made a perfect point for Fallon to take over Conans job. A not very funny guy who laughs at his own bad jokes and even makes bad jokes on purpose cuz that's funny to him to denegrate his own jokes??? A perfect substitution!!!

One gripefest at a time.

I say give him a break and give him time to feel more comfortable. Letterman, Leno and Conan weren't so great when they first started out either.

letterman has always been funny - his daytime show was freakin' hilarious with merrill markoe as head writer (his GF at the time, and later). his sardonic wit has never left him. he beats the heck out of any late night host.
05:12 AM on 03/05/2009
I agree, folks take Letterman for granted, when they all know he is the best. I would miss him the most if he left his program.

Leno was a fantastic stand up comic for years and eased into talk show hosting. He was funny from day one. Fallon makes me cringe. I think it is his snorty giggle. No wonder his wife left him.

So what is going on....this place turning into a cheering section and publicity point for Fallon's lame show?

I watched about 2 minutes and had to turn to Craig.

And what is with the paid trogs coming here talking about how great Fallon is, and how cute he is and he'll be the biggest thing since sliced bread etc? They remind me of the paid reviews for movies that bombed over at IMDB. You read the paid reviews and they stick out like German Shepard around a bunch of kittens.

Many of the pro-Fallon comments run the exact same way....

"He's just starting out. Give him a break. Conan had difficulty at first, so did Letterman, blah, blah".

It's almost like they're plagarising the same talking point memo.

I've been a huge Conan fan, but even he is the first to admit his show was horrible the first year+. I found this conversation absolutely charming, but they should have showed Tina's hair back when she was in Second City !!!

Reading comments here it always amazes me how some people have such vitriol for comedians, these people are just trying to be funny, they're putting themselves in the most vulnerable position imaginable, when the jokes die, they suffer 1,000 times more than we do. But then that's the key, being in that vulnerable position is just what miserable people looking for a scapegoat need, so they unload all their bile on someone who is just desperately trying to make them laugh, cuz they'd never have the balls to stand up to their boss.
