Obama Teleprompter

Politico:

President Barack Obama doesn't go anywhere without his TelePrompter.

The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president's prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks.

Resting on top of a tall, narrow pole, they flank his podium during speeches in the White House's stately parlors. They stood next to him on the floor of a manufacturing plant in Indiana as he pitched his economic stimulus plan.

Another desperate attempt to criticize trivialities due to the inability to develop a cogent, substantive argument about Obama's programs. In other words, I'm more interested in discussing WHAT he says, not HOW he chooses to deliver the message.

What's next--the relative merits of belts vs. suspenders?

He should just keep his Blackberry in one hand glance at it during his conversations. There is a handy little note application that can be used to refer to certain points during his addresses + that track-ball make it so easy to scroll. It would also show true bipartisanship as Republicans, Democarts, Business Owners and the "Hollywood Elite" do the very same thing during public events. =)

Our cruches gives us a sense of security. I'm sure with Obama not having to concentrate so hard on saying the right things he can deliver the effective message he intends for us to hear. I say the reporters just have to deal with. We don't need him getting insecure because his can't use his telepromter.

During his first prime-time news conference, President Obama answered every single question -- from foreign policy to the economy to domestic policy -- with an extraordinary amount of depth and breadth. He didn't need to "refer" to any notes, nor did he once give a clipped response when discussing these important issues.

In fact, President Obama's responses were so intricate and thorough that the only "critique" from the right was........wait for it.........his answers were too intricate and thorough!

Shame on Politico for writing such condescending drivel. Oh, wait -- it's Politico....never mind.

You can't handle the fact that Obama is nothing more than a puppet reading talking points

I don't like Politico. Weirdly common things they think up to write about. What? No investigative reporting, like who is that young guy pictured to the right of Karl Rove, when a tape of him coming towards the camera looking at his blackberry is shown on newscasts with Rove's latest pronouncements. The young guy's expression is one for the books. Get to real work Politico!

They used to be called notes.. It's just higher tech now. Hey, after the last guy that held that office it's a relief; I'll take it--complete sentences, WOW!

According to the public speech experts in my class, a good speaker doesn't use word-by-word notes. Only second-rated ones memorize the speeches or read from the computer screen or teleprompter. If Obama can only deliver speeches with teleprompter, I can't see him as a person who can form articulated thoughts. No wonder he stuttered so much during impromptu or one-to-one interviews, or at debate in the primary.

Actually, had he "stuttered" during the presidential debates -- he wouldn't have been elected President, now would he?

Public speech experts in your class? What class is that?

How do you know what's on his teleprompter? I would bet my bottom dollar it is NOT word-by-word; it's actually easier NOT to have word-by-word.

Did you watch his press conference a couple of weeks ago? No teleprompter, and he gave long expansive detailed answers off the cuff. Even when he hems and haws, he speaks in complex complete sentences, unlike the last guy, which was my point.
