Los Angeles Times:

Newly-released academic research suggests that Sarah Palin's sexiness, while great for selling copies of Vogue magazine and political buttons about the hottest governor from the coldest state last fall, may actually have hurt her vote-getting ability, which seems to be what elections are about.

I think the days are long-gone when Americans couldn't see past a woman's looks and rightfully determine her substance and worth. In this case; Americans got it right, and it had NOTHING to do with looks.

I guess it had nothing to do with the fact that she didn't know a thing about what the VP did, she couldn't give a straight answer and that her own failed policies as a governor had nothing to do with her losing.

Lets face it, it was her good looks that probably got her the votes and nothing else.

The reason why Palin's looks hurt the ticket is because she had no substance to back up her looks and people got offended. There was the perception that Palin was exploiting her looks to make up for her lack of experience. That might be ok for a Playboy Bunny, but coming from someone who is supposed to represent traditional values, it was offensive. It was too much, it made the Republican look too much like they don't mind double standards as long as they are on the receiving end and that hurt their credibility. Especially with John McCain pulling all his stupid pointless gimmicks. It just made most rational people loose respect for the Republican ticket.

She is definitely attractive and charismatic, as long as you don't look or listen too closely.

It's kind of like when you get a big package on Christmas morning and it has gold paper and a big shiny bow and you just can't wait to open it! It looks so great! Then you untie the bow and lift the lid....

......and the box is completely empty.

I think those tv interviews had everything to do with it. She did not what the Bush Doctrine was and she is a Republican. She did not know what the job of VP is and that was the position she was running for. No to mention that she lied about being a hockey mom (with a 180,000.00) wardobe . She could not even name one paper she reads daily, she could not name a supreme court case that she differed with.

dems don't overlook palin's popularity.....popularity must be respected....before she joined big john he was only taking in significant contributions from two states....just adding her bumped him up in all 50 states....

Not much of a bump for McCain. She did more for Obama.

Give Palin to Rove to polish up and look out Democrats!

Judging her based on her performance as a not-well-thought-out selection by McCain isn't fair. That was McCain goof, not Palin. Write her off at your peril, Democrats. VP candidates have to toe the Prez line and McCain got what he deserved. Remember cramming for tests and presentations in college? You may have gotten by, but it was a less than average perfomance.

No, it was Sarah Palin's stupidity and nastiness that hurt the Republicans. Not that they needed any help self-destructing.

Yes, Sarah Palin was sparkly. She made old man mccain look older and meaner. However, the minutes she waltzed up to a mic and opened her mouth...she lost. It took awhile for the men who thought or think she is a "hottie" to simmer down...but it wasn't Palin's looks that hurt the GOP ticket. That is a far fetched "analysis", probably written to help the grand old party of Obstructionists, lose their reputation of late.

You have a twisted view of why liberal women dislike Palin. We don't like her because of her political perspective, her lack of intellect, her complete disregard of women's issues and her obvious lack of curiosity about the world and the role the US plays... not because she's cute. Sheesh, that's just ridiculous and actually, offensive. Your comment is as shallow as this "study".

My comment was meant as a response to the shallowness of what the GOP was doing with the Palin selection last fall. Sorry I didn't make that clear. However, I think it is a mistake to marginalize Sarah Palin.

The fact that she did not know basic answers to basic questions did it for me.

I'm pretty sure it's what came out of her mouth that hurt the Republicans.

What was the reason the RNC and the GOP felt the need to dress her up for the position? To cover up the fact that she was not prepared.. That was the biggest Ponzi scheme of all times.
