Greetings Huffington Post readers!

My name is Jason Linkins, and I am here to recruit you. As many of you know, I'm the editor of the Huffington Post's Eat The Press, and one of the things we do at Eat The Press every week is a Sunday morning liveblog, where I attempt to distill the week-ending political discussion in an enjoyable way.

Of course, my eyeballs and my TiVo alone can't keep track of everything that gets said on Sundays. Time and again, it's been the readers who have risen to fill that gap. If I'm not able to observe a controversial point being made on CNN because I'm watching NBC, I've learned, happily, that there's always a participant passionate enough to fill me in and make sure that the HuffPost readership gets the news.

Today, we're expanding our media monitoring efforts to cover more networks and more shows, I hope you'll come along for the ride. You can sign up here.

Here's how it works: when you sign-up, you'll be asked to check off the shows that you typically watch (that helps us make sure as many shows as possible are being monitored, and if we know that something notable is going to happen on a show that you watch, we'll give you a heads up).

After that, you've got one assignment: email us at tv@huffingtonpost.com to report anything you've seen that would make a great story on HuffPost. That means everything from cringe-worthy gaffes and error-prone pundits to superb, hard-hitting reporting that deserves another airing.

To repeat, whenever you catch a great moment, send us an email at tv@huffingtonpost.com. Include the name of the show, a description of what happened, and the precise time it happened (not just the time that the show airs). We'll do the rest and credit you with the find.

Over the past year, I've gone from regretting that I have only my two eyeballs to cast on the media to understanding that there is an army of people who care just as passionately about the state of the world that they're willing to keep an eye on it with me. If this sounds like you, please consider participating in our media monitoring project.

You make a very good point. The headlines can be very misleading.

Misleading and irritatingly condescending in a gotta-click-it TMZ way. Good point you make for them to clean up their own house before pointing fingers.

I like the concept of HP but the headlines are misleading sometimes. I have issue with their cen...sor....ship policies etc.
People in glass houses should not throw stones.
How can I criticize others when HP is not clean?

So Jason,
Are you funded in any way by George Soros?
Are you or aren't you?
Don't quibble.
A direct "yes" or "no" will suffice.

Hey Jason... Love your work. I signed up but there are two glaring missing news shows on that rather extensive list and they are: Now with David Brancaccio and Bill Moyers Journal. I mention these two because on more than one occasion I have found myself awed by the caliber of the discussions as well as the topics that are discussed.

That might be why they aren't on the list :)

Zakahia's "GPS" is also good. (No reason we have to only monitor the known "drek" of the MSM).

Here's one, Jason: Most of the media refused to cover the anti-tax rally in Fullerton, CA on Saturday that drew over 10,000 people. You think they would have been there if it had been an illegal alien rally? The taxpayers of CA rallied to protest the highest state tax hike in United States history, signed off by the gigantic fraud, Arnold, who won his seat on his pledge to not raise taxes. I can't believe this isn't a bigger story......

It's NOT the biggest tax hike in history, by a long shot.

Boy, it's comments like this that have me more and more convinced that the rich OWN the minds o the gullible!

The fact is, that Obama's doing exactly what he said he would.
I realize that's foreign to many on the right, and they appear to be projecting what they know of their own leaders when they protest that bizarre charge that Obama isn't following the will of the people.

Your argument was dealt with at the election!

If he wasn't doing exactly what he's doing, THEN he wouldn't be keeping to his pledges.

Right, better to just spend and borrow? That would be the GOP m.o. And as I understand it that is a STATE (i.e. local) issue. I heard about the rally and quite frankly it sounds like a lot of uninformed people that think it is O.K. for governments to run indefinitely with deficits. I don't agree with them or their premises.

I hope my TV will still be standing on its stand by the time I finish watching any of these stomach-revolting shows going on on cable TV.

I will try to sign up Jason but I will like you to INSURE my TV against damage by me.... because I have since given up watching most of these zombie cable stuff a long time ago and found peace with myself. You are asking me to try that once more. I have to get medical insurance too to manage the inevitable high blood pressure and anxiety the incredible stupidity on cable TV will cause me.

Sometimes I wonder how most of these characters got 'elected" and who the h@ll is electing them. When I go to vote, I leave most of the boxes across these politicians unchecked because I can't stand them. I live in Atlanta North, GA and there are a lot of brainless "politicians" living up there.

Jason, Jason are you still there?

This sounds like a good Plan,,, because more eyes on the target has to help.
I'm guessing this plan took shape because of some of the HP bloggers already catching these ' Lies & gaffes '. To put some pressure on these politicians or MSM news agencies " WE " need a way to contact them as well

As an example, John King interviewed Mr Cantor Sunday and started off his rejection of the Omnibus Bill as having too much pork. He used the ' imaginary ' (debunked a month ago ) rail system from DisneyLand to Vegas as a prime example...WTF ! Is he Clueless !
The fact that even a High School reporter now knows this is ' bunk ' and the fact that John King representing CNN would let this pass as fact (and call him on it ) and allow Cantor to spew misinformation is outrageous. So much for Their Slogan " Keeping Them Honest" They don't even try.

The only way CNN will let us voice an opinion or call them on ' their mistakes ' is to post a comment on their webpage. This does NOTHING ! They don't want our voices heard.

If we are going to call them out...HP needs to give us information on how to contact them. Post their phone numbers or people to contact . Give us the info----we will Call.

I would love to be able to share some of the vitriolic cartoons (?) that they sent my way.
I will be more than happy to be of service to your enterprise. Thanks for asking!

Can see from posts so far herding cats might be difficult and of course I would volunteer but out of total despair when Michelle Caruso-Cabrera bashed the President recently and blamed him for the current economic crisis-I cancelled my tv subscription.
As a friend used to say about many things "I don't hate myself that much".
Which is how I felt--finally after 6 years of watching cable while i work.
Gee it's quiet but nice and I do get Play Classical UK on my Itunes

Keep on MSNBC. This supposed "liberal" network makes plenty of gaffs and errors in facts and many of their talking heads don't push back with the truth. Still, at least there's hope here. I would like to see MSNBC become the break out network that brings back real journalism. Talk about a niche, no one else is close to doing it.

MSNBC tilts toward the left because there's a big market there. In fact, they've scared CNN to the right to try to compete. I believe there's also a big market for smart reporting, pundits with enough teeth to call out nonsense, and enough knowledge to be formidable. I believe this is what we all miss about Tim Russert.

This may tempt me to get my telly repaired-if IRS sends me a refund. But then life without TV is more pleasant & I limited my viewing to Animal Planet & BBC America Evening News &, maybe Discover(y). HP gives me the best of the Daily Show. Why watch TV?

HuffPo ought to stick to what it does best: aggregating news from a variety of sources.

Wellllll, that is what this is all about......aggregating news from a variety of sources. Are you objecting that it will "just be the little people" that contribute....or what?

When anyone objects to having more sources of information, it reminds me too much of the republican mind-set, the hairs go up on the back of my neck..."controlled news sources" is why we're in deep right now.

I asked how this is going to be any different than what already exists.

Can you answer that question without bringing up the R word?

Hi Jason,

Well, it's good to see you on a Monday too! I've been catching your Sunday blogs since last spring. I can't commit to watching certain shows but I like your idea. I would certainly like to have more people looking for all the lies/liars that are running rampant on our tvs.

Thanks

It is the best of ALL the Sunday Shows. Definitely worthy of missing the 1st Quarter of a NFL Football game. It's intelligent and doesn't attempt to dumb itself down to the audience.

Yesterday Freeh Zakeaia interviewed the young Muburek (sp?) who is widely supposed to be the next president of Egypt. It was facinating. Best pundit on T.V. No doubt.

You're right. I was hesistant to say it.

Zakaria "GPS" -IS- the best. If HuffPo is drawing attention to media, (MUCH needed!) "GPS" should have a place in the line up.
