Meghan McCain: Ann Coulter 'Offensive, Insulting, Confusing'

Meghan McCain, self-styled Republican party critic and Daily Beast blogger, has a serious beef with Ann Coulter.

I straight up don't understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time. But no matter how much you or I disagree with her, the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied.

McCain takes issue with the fact that Coulter is reliably one of the most public faces of the struggling-to-find-its-new-image party, because she is easily pushing away the few members the party has left.

... But here is what I don't get about Coulter: Is she for real or not? Are some of her statements just gimmicks to gain publicity for her books or does she actually believe the things she says? Does she really believe all Jewish people should be "perfected" and become Christians? And what was she thinking when she said Hillary Clinton was more conservative than my father during the last election? If you truly have the GOP's best interests at heart, how can you possibly justify telling an audience of millions that a Democrat would be a better leader than the Republican presidential candidate?

McCain goes on to suggest that if she herself, the daughter of a former GOP presidential candidate, is regularly turned off by Coulter's extremist antics, what must the general public think?

McCain is equally baffled by the GOP's official leadership. In an ABC radio interview, she admits she doesn't understand Michael Steele's new "hip hop" strategy.

If you're saying I want people from the hip-hop community -- I don't even know what that means exactly -- I guess people that are in the music industry could become more closer and you know try and become Republicans (sic). I just don't think that is going to work. I think they need to rely on a message that is going to really stick with people of my generation.

And in a previous Daily Beast post, the campaign blogger expressed frustration with the lack of Internet savvy in the Republican party.

Ms. McCain is young and on a journey of self-discovery that has to be allowed to play out over time. i personally believe that were it not for her father's prominence, she would have already recognized and publicly acknowledged all that is wrong with the GOP. this does not necessarily mean that she will join the Democratic ranks the next day, but it means that voluntary ignorance is not necessarily a terminal condition. now...if only she'll give us the real scoop on SP.

Ann Coulter got fired off CNN for insulting a vietnam veteran, on open air, she ran off a stage where she was giving a speech on how "her party the republicans" could defend america better than the democrats, she was fleeing a heckler trying to hit her with a harmless cream pie, something many comedians did intentionally to themselves for a laugh, she is a joke, but a controversial joke, kind've like a dirty joke, that when told gets peoples attention even if it disgusts them, at the same time. Just Limbaugh thinks his 20 million listeners are all fans, I listen to right wing radio and am no fan, merely listen out of morbid curosity, and find him disgusting as I do most right wing talk radio, but entertaining and I definitely do not vote their way!

But, then she comes out with this missive that is on point and about time someone who says they are a Republican should be saying that the Coulters, Hannitys, Limbaughs, Malkin and Ingrahams are NEGATIVE and HATERS. The GOP should listen to this woman.

Dear Meghan,

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. The news also says that your Dad has said that he doesn't want the President to fail. I knew that he would say that, being the American hero that he is and the seasoned statesman that he is.

I hope that our President succeeds with the help of our representative government and all of us whom they represent. We all need for the President to succeed in this crisis. We all need to help him do that.

As Mr. Lincoln said, a house divided against itself cannot stand. Thank you and your Dad for encouraging the American spirit and helping us in our national debate and crisis.

I've never seen a republican woman who I thought was beautiful before, but I have to give credit to Meghan for being an absolute looker. The person pictured next to her, however, looks like she could be an inmate in a maximum security mental institution in the cell next to Hannibal Lechter.

I had to chuckle though. Meaghan states that Coulter is offensive and insulting. Nothing new there, but then she stated, Coulter is "radical" and "confusing". That should just about send Coulter into the stratosphere. Now, if Meaghan would have only also added that she is not attractive and rather mannish loosing, it would have provided us with Coulter totally loosing it on TV. Still might. Have to get my popcorn and beverage ready.

Coultergist is a lot like Rush. They exaggerate who and what they are. Case in point: Rush claims he has 14 Million listeners. That was debunked on Olbermann's show yesterday. It's more like 1.4 Million. So, today, when Rush was asked by a listener how ratings are actually talulated, Rushbo, stammered and didn't dare repeat that he still has 14 Million listerners. Then the questioner was all of a sudden disconnected. Just like he claimed he signed a $100 Million contract. Probably not true, no differently than Coultergist selling as many books as she does. It's all smoke and mirrors and they have been rightly outed. 'Bout time.
