Limbaugh On "Economic War": "If Obama Is Our General, This War Is Lost"

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/10/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:05 PM ET

Rush Limbaugh has gone from hoping Obama will fail to proclaiming he already has. If Americans are in an "economic war," the talk show host said Tuesday, and "Obama is our general," then "we've already lost."

Watch:

Meanwhile, Democrats have not let up the pressure on Limbaugh, continuing to tie him to the Republican party and publicize his most egregious statements. On Tuesday, they released their top five slogans for a billboard to be put in Limbaugh's hometown.

Why did we not let Rush pick our general? He should have spoke up an recommended someone when we were having an election. If he had an opinion, he should have expressed it prior to the election. Surely, if he HAD endorsed someone we all would have listened and done his bidding. I mean he is so influential. He controls what happens in the political world. If only he had not been so wishy washy about a candidate, or a candidate's VP choice or a party. Had he just picked a party to back during the last election, he would have influenced the election. I think in 2012 Rush will not be so silent with his very powerful, very influential voice and he will come off the fence and tell us which party he thinks should run the country. I think from here on out we will hear a more biased Rush. He does determine elections and primaries, after all. He is so powerful and influential. Just ask him. (But, pay no attention to the evidence from the last 4 years of him being completely impotent in influencing anything election related)

How about if the Republicans are the soldiers for this Economic war then the war will be lost!

I avoid commenting on Limbo-isms, but just this once...

President Obama is the C-in-C, not a General.
The generals work for him. Different skill sets entirely.

Rush thinks Obama has lost the economic war having not been in Congress even a 100 days.

Where was Rush when the years dragged on with Bush's incompetence and denial?....

He was praising him and tearing anyone to shreds as unpatriotic if they spoke against the President. I think it is wonderful no matter how much money he is presently making for him to be exposed to the rest of the U.S. with all his arrogant ignorance. He is bad news for the Republican Party.

I am still smiling about the video of Mr. Republican jumping up and down at the last GOP convention. That was priceless! That image will remain with me the rest of my days.

Wow, I was going to Limbaugh bash, but my moderate post is weak compared to the vitriol!

I've not listened to him since he was criticizing H.W.

But I'm curious, is he simply a racist?

Rush, that's really enough!!!

I remember Arnold said last year (was it?) that Rush Limbaugh was irrelevant.

I just watched Chris Mathews (on a late night repeat) ask the usual dueling pundits "Was the White House smart to take on Rush Limbaugh?" Doesn't matter what the pundits said, because it's the question that's most interesting----and horrifying.

Why in the name of all that is sane and reasonable wouldn't the question be "Was Rush smart to take on the White House with the statement "I hope he fails?" Even MSNBC, the supposed "liberal" network, via Chris Mathews, deigns to kiss Rush's Ring. Should we have taken him on? Shouldn't we worry about all his dittoheads? Might it not be better to just pretend he's not there---shouting for Obama to fail?

Really, it's mind blowing and subtle enough to be dangerous. Mathews takes a treasonous comment by Rush and makes it the White House's problem. It truly scares me the blithe way the media is once again making this a horse race instead of doing their job----to ferret out the truth with facts, context and perspective.

I saw the same program earlier. Chris Matthews has become a shill for the republicans. You are right about his pushing that crap about the WH and Limbaugh. It is the MEDIA and the repubs pushing this story. Matthews has talked incessantly about it since last week.

I stopped watching him but check in every night to see what nonsense he is talking about. He relies too much on republicans and Pat Buchanan. You ever notice that Scarborough never brings on Keith or Rachel (they would tear him a new one) but Matthews is always on with him in the morning agreeing and pushing their talking points.

Chris revealed in one of his blurt out anything moments that he was raised a conservative. Case closed on you Matthews--I knew he leaned conservative despite how he tries to cover it up.

Hardball my arse.

I don't think Rush should be lecturing us about leadership. He couldn't lead a hotdog into a bun and if he tried he obviously would end up eating it before it got there.

Rush, spew all your anti-Obama rhetoric you want.. Your demographics tells it all. Women despise you,the Gop is starting to disassociate themselves from you,all you have left are uneducated males age 21 to 65 that still listen to AM radio.
12:05 AM on 03/11/2009
Your giving him FAR too much credit. Uneducated makes between 21-35.
08:36 AM on 03/11/2009
The rethugs keep bragging that liberals dont have any successful radio shows. LOL! Its because the liberal demographic gave up AM radio ages ago. Who still listens to AM? Oh I forgot, rethugs. So telling.

What is missing also in Moore's letter is that during the entire 8 year of Bush, the press did not expose the crumbling of the economy beginning with the Bond Market collapse early on, the inversion of interest rates, huge increases in unemployment against small gains and exporting of jobs,

In short the Republicans got a free pass from the press but not from Michael Moore. The GOP never addressed the gasoline prices and did nothing to bring them down including applying pressure to the close energy industry connections of Bush and Cheney. The GOP never addressed health care for all americans except to ignore the issue, never went back to fix public education, thus leaving many children behind.

In 50 days Obama has not solved a crisis that was created over 2920 days of Republican rule.

If a college drop out whose mom says he failed at everything is your intellectual general, you oughta surrender.

Why do people keep bringing education in to the argument? It's really, really easy to name educated people who are stupid, and the opposite.

Agree with Rush or not, he's extremely intelligent.
08:40 AM on 03/11/2009
I just spit my coffee onto the computer screen. If you think Rush is extremely intelligent, that tells a whole lot about your intelligence.

So was Joseph Goebbels. It's not about intelligence, it's about his agenda and constant denegration and abuse rather than constructive discourse.
