Late Night

Leno and Letterman both focused on the economy last night with the latter saying he tipped his cab driver with a hundred shares of GM stock. Craig Ferguson stayed on this theme in his monologue:

"Daylight Savings Time has started which means we've got an extra hour of daylight everyday to see your life savings go down the toilet."

More from Jimmy Fallon on Oprah's reaction to Rihanna and Jon Stewart on Hillary Clinton's gift to Russia below.

Speaking of Hillary Clinton:

There is bad news about her husband.

It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.

They cut the funniest part of the Stewart bit - they show them pressing the button and a nuke goes off in the background...

How fast do you think the guy who mis-translated that word was fired?

No, it should be HRC that gets canned. What the h was she thinking that a gag gift is appropriate in a diplomatic setting? Major blunder all around. Stupid is as stupid does.

The more I see Craig Ferguson, the funnier he gets ...

I had same experience, and found him very funny. Then after a bit I found it repetitive.

For some reason i still like the guy, but I don't think I could watch him over a long period of time like Letterman or for that matter Leno. I find Conan repetitive as well, but maybe in the early slot he'll try new things.

I thought Fallon's joke about Oprah and Big Macs was just stupid.

I tried to see Letterman in June 2003. One could go to the Paramount Hotel down the street to find people with clipboards and ask for tickets. I answered their question wrong and the consolation prize was tickets to the Substitute host back when Letterman took Fridays off. So I saw Jimmy Fallon host. He did okay but he sure expressed how nervous he was afterward. The nervous persona he had on SNL - it was definitely not an act.

We'll see how he does - I think Ferguson will blow him out of the water but the same was said about Conan once, granted CBS or ABC really didn't have anything in that time slot when he first started.

Maybe that's how we ended up in the WAR. Bush & Co. misinterpreted the foreign intelligence reports on Iraq.

Philosophers of comedy ask: "Is it still a joke if Jimmy Fallon tells it?" Think about it.

I was thinking the same thing...Clinton said they worked really hard to get it right... how hard is it to google the Russian word for reset? The state dept needs to hire translators!!

We got rid of them and the Arabic translators due to, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Other countries put us to shame. Their officials often speak English better than most Americans...

Well, if they're speaking English as well as us, these foreigners are doing the right thing, finally learning how to speak a real language.

Why would the government need legit translators when it would just twist he truth anyway? Just ask Valerie Plame. Things should change with Obama...they better.

Thanks to that Clinton almost invited the Ruskis to First Strike withher bonehead "gift" last week. Is she giving NKorea locations of our SKorea deployed troop movements next? Real Banana Republic.
