Barack Obama

WASHINGTON — The White House plans to create a group of experts to advise President Barack Obama on women's issues.

Obama plans to name friend and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett as the head of the group. A White House spokeswoman says Obama official Tina Tchen (CHEN) will run the group's day-to-day operations.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki (SAHK-ee) says the creation of the group is timed to Women's History Month. Obama plans to sign the executive order creating the White House Council on Women and Girls on Wednesday.

The creation of the council was first reported on the Web site of The Washington Post.

I hate it when people talk about women’s issues as if we can somehow surgically remove them from the culture at large. Especially when the only issue (in the family department) is childcare. Parenting. As if that’s the only caregiving mountain women are climbing these days. 20 million sandwich generation women are caring for both children and the elderly. As their children mature and require less hands-on care, those elders are just getting older, sicker, more needy and less able to function. Caregivers, both those who have children and those who do not, are increasingly sacrificing careers, home life, financial stability, retirement and, after they drop out of the workforce or work only part-time, they lose their health insurance coverage. As is the case with all women’s issues, there’s more than one monster in the closet. Though I applaud President Obama (loudly and almost hourly), perhaps trying to define women’s issues is like the proverbial description of the elephant. What it looks like depends on who’s touching. And where.

While I know Obama can't change the antiquated, hate women religious laws in Iran, he could speak out against the decision to stone 8 women to death as a punishment for what- showing their eyes? In case you weren't aware of this horrible sadistic torture of women, they bury the women up to their shoulders, presumably because she can't go anywhere or defend herself, and then the "guys" gather around and throw large grapefruit size boulders at her face and head until dead. Gotta love these peace loving idiots. So, a woman's commission may be able to speak out against these atrocities. These folks are barbarians.
