Jack White Forms Band #3

Jack White

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No one can accuse Jack White of being lazy.

The rocker is already a member of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, and now White says he's formed a third band, The Dead Weather.

White announced the project Wednesday in Nashville and hosted a private party to hear the new CD and see a performance by the group. He says The Dead Weather's debut album, "Horehound," will be released in June on his Third Man record label.

Besides White, the new group includes Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of The Greenhornes.

Both Fertita and Lawrence perform with White in The Raconteurs.

Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and White's partner in the White Stripes, Meg White, were among more than 150 guests at the party.

Afterward, White said the group began as friends getting together to make music.

"The idea was to do a 7-inch single and be done with it, but we started writing songs and something happened," he said.

White says the band plans to tour this year.

OK seriously, who doesn't know who JACK WHITE is???!?! If you're 29 and don't know, you must kind of be living under a rock. Everything Jack touches turns to gold (or platinum), and there's a reason for it.....he's an extremely talented fellow, who can take something extremely simple and make it fresh, new and totally awesome. All of the bands he's in (none of them have broken up) are great, and they don't sound at all the same. This new endeavour sounds like it's going to be pretty rockin'. Go to thedeadweather.com, and you can listen to 2 of the tracks from the forthcoming album. Really cool! God, I LOVE that man!!!

Third time will not be the charm. Nor will attempts 4, 5, and on.

That aint the point.

..makes absolutely no sense? Attempts 1 and 2 were not exactly failures..

Jack, if you're forming, I'm buying.

Hey Jack, Give Jimmy Page a call and form a band with him. Jimmy seems all upset about Robert Plant that he's just sitting around doing nothing.

Jack and Meg aren't brother and sister. They were once married, and Jack took Meg's last name.

T'all sounds the same Jack. It's good when its good but mostly filler otherwise.

I disagree..granted the raw guitar and his voice on a few tracks are similar between WS and Raconteurs but there is a definitive difference. WS is way more experimental and basic. Haven't heard the new band.
Regardless he is a huge bright light on a very bland musical horizon. I say press Jackie Boy!

Musical genius...His production of Loretta Lynn's 'Van Lear Rose' in 2004 was incredible. I still get 'Little Cream Soda' and 'Rag and Bone' stuck in my head for days. Oh well oh well oh well. Jack White can produce, arrange, compose, act, sing and actually play music. Way ahead of his time.
