I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Many late-night hosts have capitalized on Michael Steele's new initiative to make the GOP appeal to younger voters in "urban-suburban hip-hop settings." by using terms like "off the hook" and "bling bling." Stephen Colbert has even invited Steele on his show for a rap battle, to which he has twice accepted and never shown up.

Now Letterman's getting in the game with a top ten list devoted to other ways the GOP can become hip and attract the youth vote and let's just say some of his ideas aren't bad:

Nobody goes to Dave to find out what's hip.

Maybe to find out where to get an artificial hip. Yeah, that about sums him up: artificial hip.

How funny kind of tell you something about the philosophy of the party does it not. I read some of the comments funny the Republican's want to criticize the messenger Letterman not what he said is that not just like them.

Letterman- What a depressing show. He's good at criticizing others, but doesn't marry the mother of his child. (and he criticizes Palin) I think ole Dave has some serious issues probably related to early toilet training.

What does marrying the mother of his child have to do with anything? Is he breaking any law? Sounds like somebody's "I'm better than you" morals are poking out.

His APPROVAL ratings are higher than both the shrub's AND your beloved Zombie Raygun.

His DISAPPROVAL ratings are lower than shrub's but *still* higher that Raygun which made zombies out of the Republican party.

Wrong. Bush never was above 57% pre 9-11, Obama is currently in the 60's depending on the poll.

Now Leno needs to come up with ten ways the Democrats (whose mascot is a jack@ss, btw) can stop coming across as the party that suffers from Obamamania and Bush Derangement Syndrome.

As for the Republicans, they should just be themselves and stop trying to be something they're not--"hip"--and that's okay because being "cool" shouldn't be a qualification for President....oh, wait...

Your ideas do not quite have the pull they use to. So what does that have to do with the price of eggs in Poughkeepsie?

Boy those are some real original thoughts. Obamamania and Bush Derangement Syndrome! Whew. cut it out, you're cracking me up.
Being "cool" is what got Obama the job? Eight years of Bush is what got even a black guy, as long as he wasn't another Republican, the job. Bush left a great big mess on more than one front and anyone who can't admit it is the one with a "mania". Anyone who thinks we'd be better off right now if McCain and a bunch of his Republican advisors, like Phil Gramm, were trying to steer us out of this mess, is the one with a "mania".
Being "cool" shouldn't be and isn't a "qualification for President" but it has been proven beyond a doubt to about eighty percent of Americans that being a good ol' boy "rancher" with the right last name isn't either.
Oh, and Republicans "being themselves" is what got us into this mess. Spend billions invading countries, cut taxes, deregulate ever thing in sight, step back and watch the fun.

It's not "mania", it's psychosis.

I'm right there with you, JeanMerilynSimmons. The Republicans should just "be themselves" from here on out. You know, something like 40% of the electorate and shrinking everyday. But if they just call for more tax cuts for the top 5%, or spending freezes when the economy tanks because of their other bright economic ideas, maybe they can whittle that down to 10% before you can say "Mission Accomplished."
