WASHINGTON — Don't blame the Bush administration for all the country's economic problems.

That's the message from former Vice President Dick Cheney.

President Barack Obama constantly talks about the enormous economic troubles that he inherited when he took office in January. Cheney agrees that Obama did indeed came into power amid very difficult economic circumstances.

But Cheney says he doesn't think the Bush administration can be blamed for creating the economic woes. Cheney says it's a global financial problem. He says the idea that fault can assigned to the previous administration is "interesting rhetoric" but he doesn't think people care about that.

Cheney spoke on CNN's "State of the Union."

De Nile: a big river that flows between Cheney and reality.

I'll give Cheney one thing, he's not clueless or stupid. He doesn't have a conscience but he's definitely not clueless.

Maybe he'll stop shrugging things off when he is put inside a jail cell for crimes against humanity?

Don't hold your breath. He'll probably be given a bonus for all he did for our country.

Cheney states "we accomplished nearly everything we set out to do in Iraq".

Everything but winning, leaving, and keeping the US' reputation intact.

Those things were NEVER their intent.... this may be the only truthful thing Cheney has ever said.

First he should be very carefully audited and then the scrutiny should extend beyond his finances and include intense examination of any and all of his numerous allies and partnerships, both foreign and domestic.

I NEVER LIKED DICK CHENEY...

He's arrogant, and definitely gives the message that: (HE BELIEVES THE WORLD IS BLESSED TO HAVE HIM).

Well, he's sadly mistaken and who else is to blame for America's present: MELT-DOWN OF OUR ECONOMY? America will be paying for his and George Bush's inept policies and practices for decades to come.

Hey Dick, yesterday was the anniversary of the Bear Stearns meltdown and subsequent shot-gun marriage to JPMorgan at $2 per share. The first domino to fall in the banking collapse. Who was in power then?

In charge, the "Decider" and his very active Vice President for eight years and they have the gall to say "don't blame us"? I believe it is called "Chutzpah".

The worse part is there are people who will believe it.

Yes sir, listening to Cheney talk about anything is the equivalent of interviewing Bernard Madoff on investment strategies. I was stuck at work yesterday listening to this crap as CNN is on all day long My first thought was why are they even giving Cheney air time....Isn't that what Fox News is for? The Republican 24/7 spin channel?

Regarding those people who believe what Cheney says, it's only about 13%.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/sleuth/2009/02/weve_found_one_of_dick.html

Compare: 41% claim reports of global warming are "exaggerated" http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/03/11/gallup-poll-new-high-41-of-americans-now-say-global-warming-is-exaggerated//] and 25% believe the six-day creation myth from Genesis is literal fact, while 36% have "no opinion" on evolution vs. creation http://www.pollingreport.com/science.htmm]. In contrast to those widespread, delusional beliefs, roughly 75% ("almost 3 to 1") of Americans "say the main goal of American foreign policy should be to protect the security of the United States and its allies, rather than the promotion of freedom and democracy." http://atlanticreview.org/archives/638--Poll-Americans-Favor-a-More-Realistic-Foreign-Policy.html]

More Americans are functionally illiterate than approve of Richard Bruce Cheney. " In the US, 14% of the adult population is at the "below basic" level for prose literacy." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki//Functional_illiteracy)

Tell Dick, "Go 'democratize' yourself."

And who should we blame? The Obama Administration perhaps??

I hope I don't have to see any more interviews with him. I have had enough of their lies and incompetence.

My feelings exactly. Why does the press seem to feel that they must give these tired excuses for humanity a stage over and over again. I am tired of hearing about the Bush administration. They are to blame, period, but I don't want or need to hear from any of the Bush apologists ever again.

When in our history have members of the previous administration shown up to trash talk two months into the new administration? Shameful BS.

In his response to the first question of whether Bush was responsible for the financial crisis, Cheney said that Democrats Barney Frank and Chris Dodd blocked oversight legislative of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Frank and Dodd were in the minority at the time and had no power to block such legislation. In fact, two months after the Democrats won a majority in the Congress oversight legislation of the two mortgage giants was passed. Jon King did not challenge Cheney's answer and moved on. At that point, I turned the channel. i am so tired of criminals like Cheney being allowed their own facts by journalists!

Well, this has been the standard Republican talking point spread all over the country by right wing talk radio and FOX news. All the trolls here and on the ones that call into the liberal talk radio spew the same garbage.

The other LIE is that poor blacks and Hispanics with the help of the Community Reinvestment Act during the Carter administration REALLY caused the mortgage meltdown.

Unfortunately, there is NO opposing voice to correct the lies in MOST of the country, due to the conservative monopoly of local radio stations.

Yes, that is the scary point. There is no opposing voice, as you say, to correct the lies. Then the lies eventually become the truth. The media is too intimidated by the right-wing.

As this sad creature adjusts to some type of real life, he still seems to wallow in his own creation of self righteousness...of a "godly" theme of ...."if I say it...it must be true"...

As easy as it is to dislike this dude...drowning in his own arrogance and ego...our dislike seems to be turning to just plain pity.
