Where is the beautiful dress she wore to the Ford theater? She was stunning that night.

What the First Lady wears impacts the fashion industry. Not just the expensive designer lines, but right down to ready-to-wear. Michelle Obama favoring American designers and lines increases their popularity here and abroad.

Those of you who (oddly enough) looked at this piece and chose to comment on its "irrelevance" perhaps forgot about the off the rack pieces she and the girls have worn which then immedietly sold out with their manufacturers. This is part of her job, and she's doing it well. Buy American. It helps us all.

Lady Mitch always a charmer!

I think Mrs. Obama has very good fashion sense, she wears outfits that suit er body and look very well. A lot of first ladies have a very drab lok (eg Barbara and Laura Bush). But, I think she has a long way t get to Jackie-O level. This is a really great top ten list, anyone can post lists to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and then link back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

I like all of the outfits except the one with the turquoise sweater and white blouse underneath and the skirt that doesn't look so good with it. Everything else looks really great and she looks great in her clothes. And, yes guys, some of us women love looking at clothing. If you have a problem with it, don't participate!

I'm not a style mogul. I really thought that Michelle was going to be representative of the people who put her husband in office. Kind of hard for them to emulate her in her designer clothes. However, that aside, I think she should wear pantsuits more often. When she wears a dress, she looks like she has two wooden prostheses that were attached too far apart on her hips.

Objectification of women...how retrograde.

Simple, but chic. Couple this with her intelligence, and this is one classy lady.

You forgot the Emerald green trapeze dress designed by Stevie Wonder's wife that Michelle wore to her husband's concert at the WH. That was an awesome look for her. The dress and hair-do were especially complimentary and feminine!

Haha, everyone that is commenting about how pointless this is... this is the STYLE section. What did you expect? There are other sections with "important" things, this section is obviously for style.

This is a joke, right.

While it's not an issue of earthshattering importance, the way the first lady dresses is of interest to many and it is even more important because she became first lady during an economic downturn and the way she dresses sends out a signal.

Obviously, money is spent on her clothes, but it is well in line with what other first ladies (from our country and others) spend on their clothes. She mixes in some off the rack items and puts out the message that a woman can look great without spending a fortune. More important, the girls always look great and they always seem to be dressed at a reasonable price.

That says something to American families.

But she does sometimes get decked out and that is appropriate for the First Lady. I like that she patronizes American Designers and particularly that she wears clothing from a wide veriety of designers, many of whom are not well known.

She's got a lot of different looks, and while her arms look great, as you can see here, only three of the ten outfits are of the bare-armed variety. I thought eight was the showstopper here, but I liked five two and I voted for that because I figured everybody else would vote for eight and I was right.

You are so right. This is why there is a First Lady's gowns room in the Smithsonian - like it or not, it's history.

This is not a "mindless" issue. How our First Lady dresses sends definate signals to the rest of the world and most of the time Michelle looks fabulous. What a breath of fresh air after all those "up-tight" fusty granny outfits that mzzybush wore. I voted for look #7 and liked that it shows her wearing the same belt as she wears on the cover of this month's "O" magazine, but with a different outfit! But most of the outfits are great ... #3 and #4 are also stunning.
