That because both rags are Rovian hacks. What else would you expect? The actual truth, not hardly.

We should be asking why the big spend on defense again Obama? What is this Bush II? Obama has unveiled his new budget, which proposes continued increases in military outlays. What for? The United States is spending far too much on the Pentagon. There is no more important federal role than providing for the common defense. But what is required for defense depends upon circumstances. Military requirements in 1900 differed dramatically from those in 1940 and in 1980. What are the requirements today?

Do they even ask these tough questions?

I'm convinced that writing the GM's of the cable news departments or the specific "news readers" is a waste of time.

The only way to start influencing cable management as to their programming and the lack of quality in news gathering, investigating and reporting is to go where it hurts: the cable show's major advertisers.

Given the impact of the economy on everyone, including the cables' advertisers, they don't need to lose them as a result of negative "customer" feedback.

They have a terrible track record when it comes to the President, forunately it has not made a huge impact so far.

Pass this on, this is where AIG got their funds, the Federal Reserve. Don't be fooled by our corporate media and the GOP.

The Federal Reserve was/is the dispenser of approved TARP funds.

Revised

Why is anyone surprised? Is this not what we expect of our corporate media and the GOP? Your job is to make sure everyone you know and everyone else knows, it's a lie. Just be prepared to defend these lies. Change is hard, and those in power will not give it up easily.

Having had some education in broadcast news journalism...here's the dilemma of the modern journalist. As long as there is a credible, organized opposing viewpoint you are obligated to report it. Not necessarily to endorse it, but to report it. A professional reporter will still write "Republicans say that Obama's tax plan will devastate small businesses" because, well because that is what the Repubcans DO say. The reporter may think, may even be fairly certain, that the stance is bogus, but he is being a reporter, not a commentator.

At one roundtable or reporters who had worked on Hurricaine Katrina one commented. "The one good thing was that nobody was demanding that you find somebody to interview from the pro-hurricaine side"

That is one of the things that has made for such hardened bipolarity in the political landscape. So long as they are opposed, no matter how unrealistically, they are still entitled to their equal coverage. As soon as they start agreeing they become unnecessary to the media.

"As long as there is a credible, organized opposing viewpoint you are obligated to report it."

There was credible, organized opposition to the Iraq war and yet the proportion of opposition never showed up in any of the major media.

There was credible, organized opposition to the Republican talking points about the stimulus bill, yet Republican and conservative spokespersons were represented twice as often or three times as often as stimulus advocates.

There's the journalism that occurs in journalism school and then there's CNN, FOX, MSNBC, ABC and Politico, which all have an obligation to please their corporate managers and corporate sponsors.

News is the marketing arm for corporatism.

DRaymond,
A good Reporter will not simply say "Republicans say" in an attempt to be fair. A good Reporter that either knows or even doesn't know if something is true, will do follow-up on whether or not it is true by contacting experts in tax policy and discovering the truth...then reporting the truth. They will quote the experts and give facts and figures, where available, and get to the heart of the matter for the Public good. Perhaps they don't teach Ethics anymore in Journalism School.

From MoveOn.org - great chart!

Republicans are distorting the facts about Obama's tax plan, and we need to set the record straight: Obama's budget asks far less of the rich than President Reagan or Nixon did.
Check out the chart (click on "set the record straight")
