Politicians Gone Green! The Silliest St. Patrick's Day Fashions (SLIDESHOW)

Something about Saint Patrick's Day brings out the silly in politicians' style. Green is a gorgeous color, but wearing a busy shamrock scarf will not score you points for subtlety (yes, we're looking at you, Hillary Clinton.) Some styles are a little more nuanced. See Barack Obama, who's great-great-great-grandfather was Irish, sport a pastel cravat in 2008. Or Bill Richardson, who has no Irish ancestry that we're aware of, go all 'Irish intellectual' in his green corduroy.

Here are some of the best and some of the most over-the-top St. Patty's style moments.
