President Obama will appear on "60 Minutes" this Sunday for an interview with Steve Kroft, the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz reports.

Kroft was the first interviewer Obama spoke to following his November election victory.

Read about and watch highlights from that interview here.

Before appearing on "60 Minutes," Obama will visit "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Thursday.

This will be the second big newsmaker interview in as many weeks for the CBS newsmagazine. Last week it scored a rare sit-down with Fed Chair Ben Bernanke.

pres. obama is an excellent communicator meaning he can speak it with honesty and common sense.over the aig fiasco, i blame congress before pres. took office because they were bitching about why poor and middle class families need money that we earned but yet they had stipultion for bogus bonus..congress needs to jump in the lake and eat seaweed.i blame bush and paulson for this drama because they were looking out for wall street homies.cnn and other mainstream nuts doesn't report things right; always looking for a scapegoat for ratings.i hope pres. obama tells everybody off next tues as well this coming sunday.

When you go in for a medical procedure, the most reassuring thing a doctor can do is explain the procedure thoroughly so that you know what to expect. Pain that is anticipated is less stressful than pain that comes as a surprise. I think that's true of the President as well. The more he tells us what's going on, the more we are able to anticipate how it's going to affect us and to make plans to alleviate the situation. Bush let us swing in the wind and I'm glad Obama's not doing that.

I am to. When Obama figures out what's going on he comes out and the tells me what's going on. I've never seen a president like him but i sure as hell am grateful for him.

just the thought of Bush or McCain trying to manage this crisis is scary.

You should buy him a teleprompter. AUTHORITARIAN

It is great to have a President again who is not afraid to talk to the citizens and can speak in understandable English. I also appreciate the fact that President Obama gets out among the people with his town hall meetings. Dubya and his crowd always gave the impression that they were too good for "us". Remember that quip about the "haves and have mores"?

Teddy Roosevelt said that the difference between a leader and a boss is that a leader works in the light and a boss is covert....

America needs to be reminded that the clusterfrak of America's economy was begun under Bush... let's not forget that the first step of the bailout, hundreds of billion$, was done with NO STRINGS. The Obama Administration is barely two months old and he has eight years of malicious destruction to undo.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:44 AM on 03/18/2009

That seems a bit harsh. I seem to remember there being some democrats involved in these shenanigans.
Would it be fair to say the recession Bush inherited was the "Clinon clusterfrak" and he was forced to undo 8 years of malicious destruction? I don't remember him blaming his problems when he took office on anyone though.
I do remember though that his approval ratings were higher than Obama's. Perhaps that might explain why as Obama's approval slips, he's decided to make the rounds of friendly TV venues and do a bit of schmoozing.

It is unconscionable that you are still defending Bush. Opponents of Obama have claimed his supporters have "drunk the koolaid". What is the excuse for people who support Bush? Talk about being brainwashed.

I just love the critics of the president's multiple and modern communications and the frequency, volume, and plain talk that characterizes them. They think he is over exposed. Just remember, in the last six months of Bush regime, we had a president in hiding who grievously hurt us by his inability to act, e.g., on the financial crisis. Of course, he had already ruined out global rep and brought the government to its knees, overtaxed the military, etc.

We are not used to a thinking, active, highly productive chief executive. It seems so, well, different. In a very good way.

Obama's numbers are falling and it gives me a cold chill. Word. Obama's administration will be considered a failure by the people if he does not pull the plug on health insurance and Big Pharma.

I will put single-payer at the front of the line every chance i get. By the way...? Everytime a person defends Obama, their support for him solidifies. So... no harm in what i am doing. Yes, "many fish bites if you got good bait" and single-payer health care is very good bait.... as is so also any question about Obama's numbers. Workin' here boss. Shakin the bushes.

His numbers will go up dramatically after he appears on TV and talks to the people. Everybody watches 60 minutes and it should be a good forum for him.

Oh yes, and like another GOOD president, FDR, I hope our leader starts with the digital version of "The Fireside Chats" how refreshing; a leader and crew that actually cares about it's people and shares his plans and workings of OUR struggle on the road of liberty to a much more inclusively even, fair, working of our inalienable rights from birth; a more equitable and honest life, liberty and PURSUIT, of happiness. Dig now?
