CNN:

Terry McAuliffe, the former Democratic National Committee chairman now seeking the Virginia governorship, is running a new advertisement on black radio stations in the commonwealth tying himself to President Obama.

The 60-second spot, which began airing Tuesday in central and southeast Virginia on urban and gospel radio stations, says that McAuliffe fought to protect voting rights for African-Americans during his tenure at the DNC.

This yo-yo is the reason I wouldn't vote for Hillary instead of Obama. I like Hillary a lot but couldn't stand her mouthpiece.

I worked my a** off for Obama in VA last summer and fall and, no matter how many times McAuliffe invokes Obama's message, I WON'T BE DOING ANYTHING FOR HIM.

Terry is the quintessential "Carpetbagger" - Northerner who went to the South after the Civil War for political or financial advantage. Hope all you good Virginians send Terry packing.
I think he'd be a lousy governor - doesn't give a tinker's damn about Virginia - just wants to regain his position as a political player. If he'd bought a house in the Maryland part of suburban DC, he'd be running for office there. Plus he has no experience in state government, having spent his life as a political operative in DC. But he's got some impressive markers to call in to purchase this office.
In January 2005, McAuliffe distributed $5 million of DNC funds to Tim Kaine, Democratic candidate for the Virginia governor. This was the largest non-presidential disbursement in DNC history, and was part of McAuliffe's attempt to prove the Democrats' viability in southern states in the wake of the 2004 presidential election Kaine was successful and is the current VA governor.
McAuliffe's political team includes former staffers from campaigns of Democrats Tim Kaine, Mark Warner and Jim Webb. According to The Washington Post, some political observers say McAuliffe could raise as much as $80 million over the course of the campaign. If a political office is for sale, Terry's "the man".

What a difference an election makes ................ The man who deriled Obama now uses his name to get votes............. There is NO shame in politics.

Why isn't he using Hillary's name (or even Bill's name to get votes)? ................. Wasn't it McAuliffe who said that Obama couldn't bring in votes like Hillary could?

McAuliffe should note that memories are NOT always that short in some communities, and he was very nasty toward the Obama campaign during the primary, and that nastiness cut deep in some quarters and will be slow to heal.

"Terry McAuliffe defended our rights and was the leader who brought us together and united the party," says a narrator in the ad. "

um.....no. pants on fire!

Terry McAuliffe irked me almost as much as W. He was a clown on some of his appearences, was a snake oil salesman on others. He nearly tore the democratic party apart and his outrageous claims were too much to take. Terry McAuliffe was a leader? Propagandist is more like it.

I wouldn't vote for a Republican, but neither could I cast a vote this joker. Surely there is a saner Democrat to run?

Oh, big deal. The primaries were a lifetime ago. At least Frat Boy Terry is supporting the president unlike those PUMAs and folks here like Pupbayer who can't get over it.
05:08 PM on 03/18/2009
No he isn't, he is jumping on the coattails for his own political gain. That was a n-asty fight those primaries. It's not going to be easily forgotten. Especially when he was one of the more n-asty people out there.
05:29 PM on 03/18/2009
Question: What did McAuliffe say bad about Obama? Nothing. He talked up Hillary because that was his job. Just like it was David Plouffe's job to talk up Obama.

People like you are ridiculous. You want Hillary's people to get over the primaries but you want to hold grudges against her folks.

And, FYI. When the primaries were over, McAuliffe campaigned and raised money for Obama all across the country.

Grow up!
04:38 PM on 03/18/2009
All his opposition has to do is make an ad with all of the n-asty things McAuliffe said about Obama during the primaries. That should be easy enough to portray him as a bandwagoning hypocrite.
04:27 PM on 03/18/2009
This man is a drunk; he is corrupt and not progressive. Get a better Democratic Candidate.
04:34 PM on 03/18/2009
Is that all? That should be more than enough to crush anything the GOP can produce.

This in from HP: Dems Centrist Plot to Push Back on Obama agenda:

Names:
Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana
Tom Carper of Delaware
Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas
Michael Bennet of Colorado
Mark Begich of Alaska
Kay Hagan of North Carolina
Herb Kohl of Wisconsin
Mary Landrieu of Louisiana
Joe Lieberman of Connecticut
Claire McCaskill of Missouri
Ben Nelson of Nebraska
Bill Nelson of Florida
Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire
Mark Udall of Colorado
Mark Warner of Virginia

We must insist the DNC and DSCC run ads against these republicans for obstructing the agenda AMERICA voted for.

One of the "No" ads would be great!
05:42 PM on 03/18/2009
Kay Hagan better simmer down....she's only in that seat because of President Obama. The nerve of her to go against what we voted for in NC.

This 'politics as usual' should stop with this poor excuse for a man, much less a leader. After all the harm he caused Obama and in turn us. He is one of 'those' who should bow and apologize'-and then drop out of the race.
04:18 PM on 03/18/2009
Um, yeah. Terry stop automative calling my house and lying to Virginians. We are smarter than this. You will NOT get my vote in November.
04:18 PM on 03/18/2009
Someone must have told him how last year's election worked out. I don't remember McAuliffe ferociously deriding Obama but can recall him saying that any of the primary candidates would make an excellent President.

Liar.

He is a good Democrat.

He campaigned for President Obama a lot and deserves to invoke Obama's name wherever he can and he should.
04:59 PM on 03/18/2009
McCauliffe isn't opposing the president's agenda. He's not even in Congress.

Do you have any clue what you're talking about? That's what I thought.

McAuliffe is a sc-um-bag. he's one person who should have NO power over people's lives.

It's outrageous that he's using the good name of the man who McAuliffe derided so ferociously just a year ago.
04:24 PM on 03/18/2009
I hope President Obama tells him to cease and desist in using his name. He was just disgraceful during the primary. I hope the people of Viriginia doesn't fall for this fake.
BTW, where is that other creep Ickes...is he in hiding or something?
05:31 PM on 03/18/2009
What did McAuliffe say against Obama during the primaries that was so disgraceful?

He made himself look like Baghdad Bob by claiming Hillary could win long after it was clear that she could not. But he didn't attack Obama.
