Olbermann, Markos Discuss The "Vast Left Wing Conspiracy" (VIDEO)
Markos Moulitsas told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Tuesday that there is no "left wing conspiracy" consorting on the internet.
Politico reported earlier in the day on an off-the-record online "meeting space" for left-leaning bloggers, political writers and academics called JournoList. While journalists on the list admit that their conversations there are off-the-record, they deny pushing a specific agenda.
Proof of a vast liberal media conspiracy?
Not at all, says Ezra Klein, the 24-year-old American Prospect blogging wunderkind who formed JournoList in February 2007. "Basically," he says, "it's just a list where journalists and policy wonks can discuss issues freely."
After the article's publication, RedState's Erick Erickson wrote: "I'm told such luminaries as David Shuster at MSNBC, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, a host of New York Times magazine writers, Frank Rich, and others all collaborate on this list." (He later retracted the assertion.)
After Olbermann said he had never heard of the list, Markos told the host he is not surprised by such "conspiracy theories." He mentioned that Republicans had been very successful in the past by using a carefully distributed message that started as high as the White House, and called their paranoia about liberals' use of a private space to discuss issues "projection."
