I'm sure we'll get people on here saying print newspapers are dead and on line editions will replace them. But the fact is if newspaper companies could do that they would have done it already. There are some papers that tried to get people to register for their online editions, for free, and they had to drop that because not enough people would sign up. People are not going to pay to read a paper on line, with few exceptions, because it is just too time consuming to keep going back to "home" to get to the next story, killing popups, and waiting for downloads or connections. You might read a couple stories or columnists, but it is simply too much hassle compared to a print paper when you are reading a substantial part of it, No "online edition" will equal the reach and power a print paper has in a city. And no on line edition will pay reporters to do the indepth stories on local issues the way a print paper does. This is like when VCR and DVD players came out. That was supposedly the end of movie theaters, but most people still go to the movies because it's a better experience.
