Ruth Madoff, looking like a desperate housewife, went grocery shopping last night, just hours after her swindler husband, Bernard, learned he would have to stay in jail, at least for now.

This woman has been living high on the hog all her life, and the family business made her even richer. An ordinary person has a hard time imagining such a person's outlook on life.
The super rich I've been around seem to be in two camps: having perspective and compassion for those not so fortunate, or being hugely entitled and feeling that they are rich because they deserve it and others don't. I would guess that the Madoffs are in the second group.

One of the things I enjoy most about blogging on HP is the validation I receive of my own little opinions. Glad to see that most here believe as I, the whole family was aware of what was going on! You get rich, send your kids to the best schools all of their lives, you yourself enjoyed good education, that suggests to me that these people have sufficient intellect to not only appreciate, understand but participate in this sham. Oh woe is me, I knew nothing. Cut us a break, please! Tell us, but he was gonna make it better, eventually. The plan was, blah, blah,blah. But don't say, I knew nothing. It insults OUR intelligence for crimeny's sake!

I'm really surprised that she went out shopping for laundry detergent at all. I had a friend who I met when we were both working as secretaries. She married well, surely not as well as Ruth Madoff, but nonetheless well take care of. I went to visit her after she married the wealthy guy and I had to stop in a supermarket for diapers for my new born child at the time. We went together and as I stood in line, normal occurence for me, I looked around and didn't see my friend standing behind me or around. I finally saw her and she was looking very nervous and standing near the door of the store. After I checked out and we were leaving the store, I asked her if everything was alright. She said, she never shops in a supermarket and felt very uncomfortable and didn't know what to do or how to act. Seriously. She said she always sends her help to do that. Maybe, Ruth Madoff, wanted to be noticed for some reason because those folks send their help for such mundane things.
