Jeremy Piven Plays Obama Card In Mercury Poisoning Defense

Jeremy Piven is dragging Barack Obama into his war over the "mercury poisoning" excuse he used to get out of a Broadway play a few months ago.

With today's announcement that there will be an arbitration hearing over the matter in June, Piven's peeps just released a statement saying:

"Mr. Piven is looking forward to testifying in Arbitration along with his doctors so that the truth comes out about the very serious health risks caused by Mercury exposure, which the Obama administration has recently described as the world's gravest chemical problem."

It's easy to be snarky and cynical to look cool. I don't care if Jeremy Piven is a jerk, mercury poisoning is a serious deal. People need to read this article in Scientific American before commenting.

I agree with you. I like both actors as performers. But I would laothe to personally have to work with or for either. Their schmaltz does not go over well in a time like this. If the economy was booming etc.... Their antics might be diversionary amusing. But not in today's climate.

Why is this even news here? Regardless of whether or not Piven actually has mercury poisoning, which is a really scary thing to have, this headline has nothing to do with any kind of reality, it is tabloid news, and I expect a whole lot more from this site.

But it does remind us that Obama has been seriously concerned with mercury poisoning for quite a while. One of his most important pieces of legislation as a senator dealt with the issue.

If you have ever had the displeasure of meeting Mr. Piven in the flesh, you will find the only difference between the character Ari and himself, is Ari is more likable. The man is a real creep.

As much as I think J-Piv is the best thing on Entourage (the most entertaining regular cast member, anyway) I have read multiple reports that he's way too full of himself when the camera is off.

I have a friend named Django Baker who starred in a recent production of SPEED-THE-PLOW in Chicago. Anyone writing about his health problems? He has many. And yet he still did the whole run. Did I mention he directed as well?
