Valerie Bertinelli Gets Back In Her Bikini

The night before Valerie Bertinelli prepared to step out in public wearing a bikini -- for the first time in nearly 30 years! -- she found herself unable to sleep. As her mind raced with insecurity ("I thought, Am I really going to do this? Can I pull this off?" the actress admits), Bertinelli tried to summon up a pep talk, telling herself, "What am I so afraid of? Come on -- it's just a bathing suit!"

And yet as any woman knows, those innocent-looking strips of Lycra can be a terrifying sight -- especially for someone just shy of her 49th birthday (April 23), who only two years ago tipped the scales at 172 lbs. -- more than 40 lbs. over her goal weight for her 5'4" frame. But after whittling herself down to 132 lbs. in about 9 months on Jenny Craig (for whom she serves as a company spokeswoman), Bertinelli, who had last worn a bikini when she was 20, was ready for a new challenge.

I must admit, I've always had it bad for Valerie. I always envied Eddy Van Halen when he was married to her. I'll bet he never thought he'd see her looking this good again. Oh well Eddy it's too late now. She is looking super hot !!!!!!!!!!­!

Not unless she goes on Oprah in that bikini would I believe that's the real her. I know we expect SOME "touch-ups­" in our magazine covers, but, dang.... faaaaaaaak­e!

How desperate for attention is she? "Look at me, please look at me!" Is this what I have to look at on the cover? She had a nice little tv show in the'70's, but it's over. Let's see how you look in 5 years, that will be the test. Was there no one else to put on the cover? The lengths that some people will go to be noticed is sad.

I remember her Sergio Valente style jeans. I SOOOOOOOOO­OOOOOOO wanted to be her. The closest I ever got was having the same button nose. Note---a button nose makes you look a lot younger than you really are.

She looks really healthy and good. She looks like a very healthy middle aged woman who takes good care of herself. It took a lot of time (over 2 years) and a lot of hard work . She was in really bad shape and she pulled herself out of it and kept going to achieve excellence­. Personally­, I'm very impressed.

I love Val. This pic is great. She has been working very hard to become healthier.
I one question though ? Her eyes in this photo on the cover of People look light brown and maybe even hazel. She has the darkest brown eyes in real life ... not light at all.
So what gives ?
