Matt Lauer returned to the "Today" show Thursday morning in a sling following a bike accident with a deer over the weekend. He underwent shoulder surgery earlier this week.
Lauer was greeted by a studio full of staff wearing antlers, including Ann Curry, who told Matt, "we refuse to make any fun of you!"
Later in the show, a producer from rival show "Good Morning America" came by to drop off a present — a road sign that says MATT XING — and a note from executive producer Jim Murphy. The note, which Lauer read aloud, read:
Matt, I hope General Electric takes your health seriously enough to give you some time off to recuperate. Anything less than a few months would be scandalous.
Finally, Brian Williams sent a message to Lauer — coincidentally interrupted by a deer.
