Padma Lakshmi Gets Dirty With A Hamburger (VIDEO)

"Top Chef" host, model and former Mrs. Rushdie Padma Lakshmi gets dirty with a hamburger in the new ad for Hardee's/Carl's Jr.

Lakshmi, in slowmotion, sits on a stoop, hikes up her skirt and takes big mouthfuls of a Western Bacon Thickburger, and it drips on the ground and runs down her hand.

The last time Carl's Jr. made news for an ad, it was for a slow-motioned Paris Hilton eating a burger in a bathing suit while washing a car.

To the folks who are upset that the PETA superbowl ad was nixed: Carl's Jr. might be a purveyor of grody junk food, but at the VERY LEAST, they are not a known terrorist organization. PETA is a terrorist organization that does not care about animals at all.

I don't know. It sounds like more people will die from eating at Carl Jr's than will die from PETA terrorism. Maybe PETA should get into the fast food business and just kill off all the meat eaters through an excess of fried meat. They already seem to have a death wish eating at these places.

ALL of Carl's Jr's ads disgust me...not cause of the sex they toss in... I remember one where people pushed on a cow..back and forth...for a milkshake ad...where are the authorities in these things..I am not a prude..not in the least.. but jeez...what about the one with the doctor./surgeon who dreams of bourbon all the time...(ummm...hope he's not a cardiatric surgeon)....tasteless and stupid..a SURGEON...sucking down the #1 cause of fat america.... so..my problem is with all their ads...

Is it just me or does it seem weird that the Superbowl and NBC freaked out over the PETA commercial, but this particular ad seems to have generated no controversy? It really seems to have no difference, save one is about vegetables and the other a dead animal? Each seem sexualized to a high degree; this one just seems gross.

She clearly is NOT a Hindu. I come from a place where christianity is the predominant religion and my family are christians -- that does NOT make me a christian.

She is CLEARLY not a vegetarian.

She is no longer married to Rushdie, but she was at one time. But athiests have high standards in the people they marry, so one can assume she is as well.

None of these are evidence of hypocrisy. I congratulate her on all three fronts. She is a beautiful and talented individual.

Oh, come on. I know plenty of people from Hindu backgrounds that eat beef (I used to be one of them), just like I know plenty of Jews that eat bacon. If you've seen Top Chef or picked up her cookbooks, it's pretty clear she isn't a vegetarian.

She is definitely making use of her 15 minutes and selling out, but she's selling out some of her foodie cred, not any veggie Hindu cred. I was more surprised to see Tom schilling Diet Coke than I was to see Padma choosing to sex it up for fast food.
