I Like ItI Don’t Like It

There's one tie that's been getting a lot of love on Capitol Hill this week. Remember how Secretary Geithner and Chairman Bernanke dressed identically for their House Financial Services Committee hearing on Tuesday? Well, Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad got in on the act when he sported the same tie (in slightly different colors) for a meeting with the President on Wednesday.

Not to be outdone, Obama topped off this trend on Thursday during his online town hall meeting.

So which label is behind this sartorial sensation? We have not been able to identify an exact match online, but preliminary research points us in the direction of Brooks Brothers, specifically the $75 BB#1 Repp tie.

See how this investigation unfolded in photos below. And if you have any tips, please share them in comments.

Why is any one even commenting? We've been heading towards this "one size fits all society" for about 28 years!
My Father died back in 1981 ( 11 months after reagan catapulted us into "morning in america").
His last job, boring paper clip counting, manager of the State Office Bldg, in Albany, was brightened daily by his wonderful wardrobe of ties. He had one with pictures from the Beatles Yellow Submarine, believe it or not! ( He was also GIVEN marijuana cigarettes, by the hospital while undergoing chemo for cancer! 1978-79)
What percentage of the current population was not even alive then? How DID the young people in the USA become so drab and unimaginative; only goal to amass money?

The people in the pictures above aren't young. And have you watched MTV? Drab? Unimaginative? They might be tacky. But drab? Not in the slightest.

What work is actually getting done while they are wearing these ties, is what I would like to know.

The real star of the Washington Tie Show is Robert Gibbs with his impressive repertoire of pastel wonder.

For things to be "the same," don't they have to be ... the same?

LOL. My take on this is that Brook Bros. gave the politicians a break on price or a bunch for free. Why? Well, pretty soon everyone will be buying the same tie. And the politicians ... do they ever turn down a free gift under the must report as gift price?
