I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Obama aside, first ladies have historically been stereotyped as plain Janes. Contrary to popular belief, however, when it came to their coifs, the White House women of the past were actually pretty fashion-forward--if the recent catwalks are any indication! Check out these former first lady hairstyles and their runway counterparts.

Sorry to have to say this, maybe I'm just a little too old, but I think most of the models look like hell! Hillary looks cute.

Never thought of Laura bush and fashion anything in the same vein. Poor thing was just plain boring, she should tone down the lipstick though. A pity she did not glam things up a little more with some edge or sassiness like a very short hair do example, which would have shaved years off her face. Also her school marm and secretary (the old type) clothes always covered up to there leaving no room for the imagination. Laura was just plain safe and never took some risks. She may have to do something now that George has more free time, the old pres is not hard on the eyes and others may notice.

I am in agreement with quite a few of the the others here. I really have to curl my mind a few times to see the actual resemblance. Appears that Elle is pulling at straws here. Or it was a sloooooow fashion day...;}

I'm glad they showed our former First Lady Laura. She really is a great mother and wife and deserves a little recognition.

As a hairdresser, I can tell you that those photos are QUITE a stretch of the imagination...Long hair pinned up being compared to a SHORT hair style simply because the GENERAL outline shape is VAGUELY SIMILAR is pretty sad...With all the models at the shows, I'm sure you could have done a better job in finding more compatible comparisons...But you did manage to crank out some content for the site, so it's all good. Just maybe try a bit harder next time to make the comparisons actually jive.

I liked Laura's hairdo on her, but not on the model. I liked Hillary's hairdo on the model, better than I did on her. I like Hillary's current hairdo. Nancy Reagan's hairdo was better on her than on the model. The other two hairdos - eeek, is all I can say.

Laura's "'do" was created especially for her at the Blagojevich School of Rigid Coiffure.
