Hmmmm. I thought all the lefties were backing obama because he was going to 'bring the troops home'. Instead you get a surge. Sounds familiar. But when obama does it, its a 'new strategy'. Well like the previous poster said, he owns it now.
Not all lefties support Obama on this. Many are skeptical, for example myself.
I'm a leftie, and I support going after the guys responsible for 9/11, something Bush failed to do.
Instead Bush took his eye off the ball with regards to Al Queda in Afghanistan and went after Iraq, a country we should never have invaded.
That's fine- be skeptical. Time will tell - Bush / Cheney got his preemptive war- now Obama has to do the best he can with a horrible situation.Recall Bush's Bring em on -the war will be short - Iraqi oil will pay for the war- ALL his B. S. lies. As Colin Powell said - Now we 'own ' Iraq. We can't just undo Bush / Cheney 's many mistakes.
and Obama VOTED AGAINST THE WAR.
Obama campaigned on bringing the troops home from IRAQ, which he is doing.
Obama also campaigned on focusing the fight to finish Al Queda in AFGHANISTAN, which he is doing.
Your confused, as all right wingers are, about the difference between IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN. Two seperate countries.
And you are confused about bringing troops home from iraq and moving troops from iraq to afghanistan. Taking them out of iraq and sending them to afghanistan is not 'bringing home the troops'. We were all hoodwinked by the obama camp.
Oh no - we have another misinformed ditto head in our midst-
Obama has inherited 2 wars- and a financial meltdown- legacy of Bush / Cheney.
. So you have to excuse him for not solving all the massive problems that Reagan / Bush / Bush policy dumped on this country. You sound like Limbaugh - with his lies, smears.
You guys lost- and lost big ! 12 states that went with the GOP for 25 years-went with Obama.
Got he message there? Time will tell us how Iraq and Afghanistatin will turn out- its never good.. You know the Iraq war - the one we were lied into - so Bush could start ' his ' preemtive war.
Tens of 1000's died for Bush's war- As Colin Powell told Bush before the war - WE WILL OWN IT. Its so much harder to END A WAR THAN START ONE.
what happens to Bin Laden..wasnt the trillions spent supposed to find the guy..they havent found him.. It is another pit...
Finally, after eight long years, finally we are doing what we should have done after 9/11. It is incredible to me that this country sat idly by while GWB invaded Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, while the people who actually attacked us that day walked away scot-free.
Afghanistan is the central front on the war on terror. It has been since 9/11. Finally, finally, finally, an American leader who does what he should do.
Thank you, Mr. President.
Yes The legacy of Bush / Cheney will live on for many years. And the news media screwed up big time on the Iraq war-no tough questions- just letting BUsh get away with all the lies. Shameful.
Thanks to Bush/Cheney's WORST AMERICAN STRATEGIC MISTAKE in over one hundred years, the taxpayers of the U.S. will be paying for these Vietnam COWARDS lies for another ten years.
I'm an active duty soldier and I feel comfortable going to Afghanistan under the leadership of President Obama... I definately can't say the same thing about EX-President Bush. I never had any confidence in that guy. I think President Obama is on the right track as far as managing America's military force is concerned..
And the American people honor your service and agree with you wholeheartedly. We need a real commander-in-chief, and President Obama is that. I'm a retired vet, and if I had to do it again I would follow this president to the gates of Hell and win.
THank you soldier for all you've done. Bless You. Yes Obama is a man of honor- nothing like Bush or Cheney.
It's President Obama! Escalate the war? Do you even know what you are talking about?
Yes I do. He sent 17,000 more troops "and" military advisors. Sounds very similar to what happened in Vietnam. That is if your old enough to remember...
Sad. I'd hoped we could just back out gracefully, but... that's probably unrealistic. But, all is not lost. This could be the best way to transition the failed Karsai government out, and make our exit. Time will tell.
It always does. it always does. Time, that is.
