Osama Bin Laden Resurfaces In Congressional Race (VIDEO)

First Posted: 4/27/09 Updated: 5/25/11

The National Republican Congressional Committee is poised to release a new ad for their man in the race to fill a vacant House seat in New York. The ad, titled "National Tragedy," beats up on Democratic candidate Scott Murphy for refusing to say he'd advocate the death penalty for the perpetrators of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The spot begins with the words "September 11, 2001." As audio plays of Murphy giving a somewhat mealy-mouthed response to the death penalty prompt, the ad shows a series of terrorist mugshots culminating with a smiling Osama bin Laden.

The ad comes on the same day a new poll showed that Republican Jim Tedisco's steadily-dwindling lead among likely voters had become a four-point deficit. Poll respondents said they viewed the Tedisco campaign as "more negative" than his opponent's.

Two hundred and thirty two death row inmates had to be released because DNA evidence proved they were innocent. Most of them were convicted on the basis of eye witness testimony and identification and most of them were cross racial identification. At one point Illinois had to suspend it's capitol punishment because they found thirteen innocent people on death row. Unless and until we get a whole lot better about it, I don't think we can use the death penalty----and I used to be strongly in favor of it. There are crimes horrible enough to make the people who committed them no longer appropriate for human interaction, but the anger about the "crime" often translates into convictions of people who didn't committ the crimes--------especially if the prosecuting attorney is running for office and needs press coverage. We need to do something different about the way we get prosecutors in this country.

Unless he has been duped like everyone else into believing that 9 1 1 was not an inside job.

Listen up GOP. We are smart people and this is 2009. You can no longer use fear to get us to vote for you. We're beyong that. You guys had 8 years in which to get Bin Laden and you wasted all your time by going into Iraq. We're not stupid.
02:04 AM on 03/29/2009
maybe obama will catch him in afaganaistan or pakistan, that's why he's there isn't it

This AD is stupid. What's your point. Bush went into Iraq and attacked an innocent country and killed 100's of thousands Iraqs while the real terrorist was Bush and the Rethugs administration.

Now just hold on here for a minute. I thought that they (the Bushmeisters) quit hunting Bin Laden after he donated money to the RNC and found out he was a registered republican. Now they are still trying to tell us this cave dweller is gonna do what? when? how? Osama puts out more tape than that famous black rapper Michaeal Steel anyway.

I thought that was where obama 's campaighn money came from that was sent with them one time use credit cards that can't be traced

Why don't we at least start by charging and prosecuting terrorists? Instead of torturing them and setting them free without charges. Man I hate the GOP.
05:36 PM on 03/28/2009
uh claytonbell, the tortured terrorists it turns out were not terroists to begin with. We are the n-a-z-i guys and they are the victims or haven't you heard yet? jeesh

How silly that most Americans are so ignorant as to believe some guy in a cave pulled off the 9/11 attacks. With a populace as ignorant as America you can bet there will be more false flags attacks and Americans will give up more and more for less and less.

Fascinating watching a powerful nation crumble.

Not by himself with help like from saddam hussein and other terror groups. He was just the leader.

This will give the election to Murphy, the old Republican scare tactics don't work, they just don't realize it.

If I remember correctly, House members don't get to impose the death penalty on anyone.

This is yet another example of just how divorced from reality and common sense the GOP is, they still think it's 2004.

The GOP is absolutely shameless and devoid of any constructive ideas to address America's real problems. Perhaps if they offer bin Laden a tax cut he'll come out of hiding...
