Ashley Biden Alleged Cocaine Tape Seller Withdraws Under Fire

Washington lawyer Thomas Dunlap is under fire for attempting to sell a video of Ashley Biden, the 27-year-old daughter of Joe Biden, allegedly snorting lines of cocaine at a Delaware party last month.

The New York Post claims that Dunlap showed it 90 seconds of the 43-minute tape, which purportedly shows Ashley doing lines of coke with a red straw in front of witnesses and later shouting "Shut the F-- Up!" The newspaper reported that the seller wanted $2 million before dropping his price to $400,000.

Radar Online reported that Dunlap has since dropped the client after he learned the tape was recorded on a hidden camera, complaining about all the "negative attention."

Dunlap told RadarOnline.com early Sunday that he is no longer involved in the attempted sale of the video and informed his client he would not continue to represent him. The lawyer said he did not want to be involved due to circumstances surrounding the publicity of the matter.

According to the New York Post, the video in question shows a woman who looks like Biden talking and snorting several lines of cocaine with a straw.

The video ... shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder.

She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room.

Vice President Joe Biden, who coined the term "drug czar" in 1982, has not yet commented on the story.

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, adds that fellow lawyers are stunned by Dunlop's behavior:

While most people are shocked by the craven acts of the still unidentified friend, most lawyers are equally shocked by the involvement of a member of the bar in allegedly shopping this tape to tabloids for the highest bidder.

Biden is a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency.

Interesting comments on this story - the pure irony of the subject... what people focus on. That the "news" and related comments harp on the players involved (seller, girl, lawyer) and their questionable actions is just tired and boring - that's plain everyday life and everyday people - seriously - not News-Worthy, important, or interesting.
What is News-Worthy then? Think about it... there is the sticky but simple topic of drug prohibition (and why it's a self-defeating policy) that crops up from time to time but doesn't get much press... and then there is the timing of this story with the current administration's FUTILE drive to fight the horrendous mexican gang violence (so much money wasted on the war on drugs). The only reason drugs are illegal and so controversial is because they are a great polarzing platform for a few needy politicians. No one ever voted to make drugs illegal... it just happened by some very focused lobbying at some point. It has been perpetuated because politicians keep the cycle going. It's so easy to attack drug use, an issue that will never go away, because like TV and Booze and Sex, it's a pleasure in life for many very healthy, smart, good, normal people (I'm not talking about crack here - so don't try to twist this one around). I think the most simple explanation is almost always the real story behind anything - why all the conspiracy and speculation (sure it's fun, but almost alway false)?? I'm sure the tape is real... a 26 year old college educated social girl does coke at a party?? Whoa - that's crazy! never heard of such a thing! just shocking!! Who cares? (coke is fun anyway and should be legal - whole other story) She's an adult, just like her Dad is an adult. They can do what they want and it doesn't reflect on the other. Also, I'm sure the lawyer was just a simple clueless proxy who got sucked in way over his head and was the only name anyone could point too... and finally, the taper/seller is just some bad bad friend looking to make a fast buck... nothing unusual about any of this for anyone who reads this post. The fact that journals make such a fuss about this news and try so hard to push it is the saddest story in all this. Just propagates consumption of irrelevant junk. A distraction.
