Washington lawyer Thomas Dunlap is under fire for attempting to sell a video of Ashley Biden, the 27-year-old daughter of Joe Biden, allegedly snorting lines of cocaine at a Delaware party last month.

The New York Post claims that Dunlap showed it 90 seconds of the 43-minute tape, which purportedly shows Ashley doing lines of coke with a red straw in front of witnesses and later shouting "Shut the F-- Up!" The newspaper reported that the seller wanted $2 million before dropping his price to $400,000.

Radar Online reported that Dunlap has since dropped the client after he learned the tape was recorded on a hidden camera, complaining about all the "negative attention."

Dunlap told RadarOnline.com early Sunday that he is no longer involved in the attempted sale of the video and informed his client he would not continue to represent him. The lawyer said he did not want to be involved due to circumstances surrounding the publicity of the matter.

According to the New York Post, the video in question shows a woman who looks like Biden talking and snorting several lines of cocaine with a straw.

The video ... shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder.

She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room.

Vice President Joe Biden, who coined the term "drug czar" in 1982, has not yet commented on the story.

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, adds that fellow lawyers are stunned by Dunlop's behavior:

While most people are shocked by the craven acts of the still unidentified friend, most lawyers are equally shocked by the involvement of a member of the bar in allegedly shopping this tape to tabloids for the highest bidder.

Biden is a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency.

She's a social worker in a child-welfare agency and her dad is Vice President? Come on, and she'd hang out with a bunch of people at a party snorting coke? No frickin' way. Baloney.

If this is GOP slime, all they needed to do was to put the word out there that such a tape exists. Now it has been withdrawn. Sounds like the work of Karl Rove.

Ashley Biden's college experience story is all too familiar to those who went to college. Either you kept to yourself, party hard with your sorority sisters. Indeed my roommate liked to experiment. It didn't bothered me, nor she forced me to join.

Living away from home, missing my parents, high school friends - I was pretty lonely and homesick. I even missed my 5 pestering brothers I've sworn to get rid of. I longed for weekends to drive 400 miles to go home, or their visits.

One day, I realized 4.0 GPA was not all that important - it also meant new beginning - independence, stepping off the curb, making mistakes, loved-be loved, then love lost, heartaches . . . and hopefully, learned from them. I compensated my loneliness - partying hard, getting very drunk and tipsy, throwing up and hugging the commode. Still, 4 years of my life I would never change - a part of my life and what I became.

We're both @ 27 now - Ashley is a Social Workerm and 'am now a Statistician/Risk Mgr . . . just like many of my generation - Gen Y, we move on with our lives.

I am not here to defend Ashley. But I just like my Baby Boomer Mom who is now a Judge and Dad, and Engineer - bet you they had the same experiences during their college years and moved on with their lives - good lives.

Here's to Ashley and Generation Y.

yea..so it was their choice. choice is choice and while i do not believe this story at all, i think is serves to highlight the hypocritical nature of the 'liberal elite'-protecting their own but still all too eager to throw the young to the conservative religious crazies who would throw people in jail for years for this same exact 'crime' BS

And a lot of people tried it and moved on. No question, though...coke is a dangerous drug. Now why is this anybody's business?

But seems like Ashley (if it is true) hasn't moved on with her life, if she is still partying hard with coke at 27. I hope it's not true, because snorting coke is a ticket out of her career working with kids in child welfare. She should know that.

This story doesn't sound right. First, why hasn't anyone said that the woman in the video is definitively Ashley Biden? This story hasn't advanced at all since it broke. The lawyer involved in selling the video drops out. This story is beginning to sound more and more like the infamous Michelle Obama "Whitey" video. That turned out to be bogus.

I agree - it casts a cloud on a person without verification and is a very sleazy thing to do.

The sons and daughters of the elite get away with getting their rocks off in ways that would get the rest of us our blocks knocked off.

Joe Biden needs to snort a line off the prohibitionist morass that he has been pimping. His daughter should lose her employment and suffer the same harsh discrimination that is legally hoisted upon the common folk to perpetuate the myth that drugs are a 'dead end'.

As with Michael Phelps, a police investigation into the whereabouts of the party and those who attended; perhaps they can narrow down the dollar bill used by Ashley Biden to snort the line - when her ex-boyfriend tries to sell it on eBay.

I do not tolerate drug use, as I believe it is destroying our country and other countries. Concerning the article, my BS-o-meter says this is ripe. Extortion, blackmail, a sham, I think the seller needs to be investigated immediately. Send the FBI over to this guys house, confiscate the tape and let them determine what is going on.

Conveniently, the lawyer claims they drilled holes in it and threw it in a lake making it impossible to authenticate the original. That made the whole story smell worse than a 3 day old fish to me. I think it is a smear times to coincide with the special election in NY (Murdoch's paper is pushing it) as VP Biden is making calls for the Dem candidate. On Wed, the whole thing will be discredited and blow over.

If this is bogus then all parties need to be charged with terrorism, as GW's administration lackeys did to so many, and then they can watch their a$$es rot away somewhere without a trial.

If the woman in question is Ms. Biden, then I hope that she is dealt with as anyone else would be regardless of who her step-father is.

What has ME puzzled about this story is the shock of "most lawyers," that a member of the bar allegedly shopped this tape to the tabloids. It registers exactly 1.1 on my shock-o-meter, and the shock from shuffling your feet on a wool carpet in the winter measures a 2.4. Could it be that these lawyers were also ...aghast???

"...I hope that she is dealt with as anyone else would be..."

Yes, that's the problem, isn't it?

Since every cell phone these days has a camera, all the stuff that used to fly under the radar is getting picked up. Cops beating the snot out of somebody and charging them with assault because the victim bled on their boots, precious political offspring getting caught with a straw in their nose, Olympic athletes doing what the intelligent half of the college world does from time to time as a matter of course...it's all going public. All the people who used to have the money, power and position to make sure their children got a free pass while a poor kid with a joint in his hand got sentenced to 5 years in a Texas prison...well, those days are gone.

Maybe if enough cases turn up, the outrage will reach a level where even the boneheads in government can't ignore it anymore. Especially when their little darlings start getting the same kind of treatment as a kid in the projects who runs into a cop with an agenda.

Why ask for proof? The accusation of drug use is sufficient. Slander is the standard; hypocrisy is the law. This is the Drug War after all. I know of Black people in prison and Latinos who have been deported on charges no more substantial than this; the difference being a greater public presumption of guilt --- you know, on the basis of race and neighborhood, they must have been doing it. That's is the American standard of justice... just like "Blazing Saddles."

Why keep up the double standard? Let's trash the whole country over this absurd moral panic. There's a new theme song for drug war; it's "Punish the monkey, let the organ-grinder go." When you set up an Easter Egg Hunt to find what's left of your liberty, you'll see that it's gone. Drug war took it all.

Americans have traded liberty for security and ended up with neither. This sleazy little inside-the-belt-way slander is just a tiny reminder.

You've put your finger right, square on the problem. The harm done by the War On Drugs so far exceeds any harm the drugs themselves could do that there's simply no comparison.

My personal favorite is the way it's turned two-bit thugs who could maybe terrorize a tiny village in the middle of some Third World country into billionaire warlords whose reach spans entire continents.
