Ashley Biden Alleged Cocaine Tape Seller Withdraws Under Fire

Washington lawyer Thomas Dunlap is under fire for attempting to sell a video of Ashley Biden, the 27-year-old daughter of Joe Biden, allegedly snorting lines of cocaine at a Delaware party last month.

The New York Post claims that Dunlap showed it 90 seconds of the 43-minute tape, which purportedly shows Ashley doing lines of coke with a red straw in front of witnesses and later shouting "Shut the F-- Up!" The newspaper reported that the seller wanted $2 million before dropping his price to $400,000.

Radar Online reported that Dunlap has since dropped the client after he learned the tape was recorded on a hidden camera, complaining about all the "negative attention."

Dunlap told RadarOnline.com early Sunday that he is no longer involved in the attempted sale of the video and informed his client he would not continue to represent him. The lawyer said he did not want to be involved due to circumstances surrounding the publicity of the matter.

According to the New York Post, the video in question shows a woman who looks like Biden talking and snorting several lines of cocaine with a straw.

The video ... shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder.

She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room.

Vice President Joe Biden, who coined the term "drug czar" in 1982, has not yet commented on the story.

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, adds that fellow lawyers are stunned by Dunlop's behavior:

While most people are shocked by the craven acts of the still unidentified friend, most lawyers are equally shocked by the involvement of a member of the bar in allegedly shopping this tape to tabloids for the highest bidder.

Biden is a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency.

As a social worker..it is in- appropripriate in any form! She is 27 years old and her father is not her keeper but she is far from the first politicians child that is caught getting into the stupid pills!

It does show that she is human and it is my hope she gets the help she needs to deal with an addition. Complaining that 5 lines is not enough shows this is not the FIRST time she has partaken in this form of recreational drug use.

I just wish those here that continued to throw stones from their glass houses would have given the Palin children the same respect but I guess that was to much to ask.

Number one that is his step daughter, not his daughter. His daughter by blood, was killed with her mother back when he was still a young senator. Let's get the facts straight here, shall we? Second, I am not going to attack him for what his daughter does. The woman is over 21, not a kid, knows the risks connected to using coke, the legalities. I am sure her parents have read her the riot act, demanded she get into rehab for this, ect. Sadly she isn't the only kid of a politico who does this. When the parents are doing this and No I do NOT mean Joe and his wife, the kids assume they too can do no wrong. If this was a means to discredit her father, it only succeeds if people use this as a distraction to avoid the real issues going on. Personally, I think the financial mess, jobless issues, healthcare issues, wars, people losing homes is far more important. Joe is a guy who will take care of his family. We must take care of our leaders so they can do thier jobs, not be riduculed for thier kids stupidity.

But when his own daughter uses them the pressure is on to squash it. While trying to peddle a tape of someone's potentially incriminating behavior is pretty low in this instance - to my knowledge this woman has never been an anti drug crusader or anything like that so it's not like this tape would demonstrate hypocrisy on her part - I find it amazing that she lacked discretion (if the tape is real) by putting herself in this position. In a time when there are cameras everywhere and the net makes dissemination so instant, high profile people just don't seem to take that into account a lot of times.

Again I say that thus far it's not been established that she's done anything that's been alleged.

On the other hand, even if she did toot some coke, she's an adult and it's not like her father is responsible for her actions. It wouldn't be as though she called him before hand and got his blessing, any more than my parents would be responsible for me doing something illegal as an adult.

When politicians aren't putting forth their children as part of their public identity, we really ought to lay off of the kids and their foibles.

I believe that it may be true as no one from her camp has come out to refute it. If it is true - she should be ashamed. She works for a children's agency and represents the interests of young people as a Board member of the "Y". She should not escape scrutiny for this and even as an Obama/Biden supporter - I believe that the media should be reporting on this as much or more so than they did on Palin's daughter Bristol.
