Limbaugh: 'If Obama Fails, America Is Saved'

Bill O'Reilly wants to see President Obama succeed, he says, but Rush Limbaugh is as adamant as ever that he hopes Obama will fail in the White House. During his Monday radio show, he told listeners that Obama's failure would mean the country would be "saved."

"Based on what we've seen with General Motors and the banks, if he fails, America is saved," Limbaugh said. "Barack Obama's policies and their failure is the only hope we've got to maintain the America of our founding."

O'Reilly has a different outlook. Asked if he want Obama to fail: "No. We want him to succeed. We want to persuade him that perhaps some of his policies are not going to help him succeed."

I think this Rush thing is getting a little long in the tooth. Let me have a go at clearing it up:

Rush wants Liberalism and Socialism to fail and therefore wants President Obama's current policies to fail. It all comes down to the subjective definition of "succeed" really. I want President Obama to succeed in applying Conservative values. If he attempts the opposite of that isn't somewhat reasonable for me to want him to fail? It would be completely illogical to want success for the polar opposite viewpoint wouldn't it? If I am a Conservative should I want President Obama to succeed in implementing Socialism (let's, for the sake of argument, assume that is what he is trying to do)?

The left wanted President Bush to fail right? Or was it his policies on things like the War in Iraq they wanted to fail.

Have a think about it.

Because he effectively uses race to instill anger and fear. I actually tune in to him once in a while out of curiosity to hear what the other side is saying. What I heard him say yesterday was that BO was going to redistribute wealth by taking from people who were wealthy and giving it to "other people". What do you think he means by that? It's a direct appeal to whi-te fear that somehow this bla-ck president is going to take whi-te peoples money (who earned it) and give it to blacks. There is clearly an audience for that kind of ha-te speech. Primarily lower class, marginally educated, blue collar wh-ite males.

Very interesting, BBC.... I listen to Rush all the time and it never crossed my mind that a comment about redistributing wealth to "other people" meant giving it to blacks! The object of liberalism today is not just to make blacks dependent on the federal government (run by Democrats, of course) but to make the broad middle class (blacks, whites, Hispanic, and every other category that Democrats love in order to divide the U.S. into special interests) dependent as well. It is all about acquiring and maintaining power and control. That is what Rush criticizes---not racial division. He leaves that entirely to liberals, who have perfected racial and class warfare.

Many here seem to feel Rush is best ignored, but it seems that the Obama administration has taken a different line. Clinton tried to ignore the "elephant in the room" (several puns intended), but slipped up by naming Rush once in an interview. Limbaugh used that for years as proof that he was a force to be reckoned with.

Obama has gone the other way by proactively citing Limbaugh as the voice of the GOP. While all publicity is good publicity for Rush the entertainer, officials and politicians in the GOP now have to deal with the question, "Does Rush speak for you?" and further, "If not, why not?" It's really uncomfortable for them, and gets more uncomfortable every time Rush says something stupid or controversial. They like the way he can energize the base, but are in tough spot when asked about where they stand.

Meanwhile I'm also encountering loyal Rush followers who are sensing cognitive dissonance when Rush says things like he hopes Obama fails. They understand his meaning, but can't accept his conclusions since Obama's failure equals their own. Not only that, Rush's increasingly shrill, caustic, and tasteless rhetoric is beginning to violate their often conservative morals, (e.g., talking about dikes, etc.)

For my money, I'd like to keep Rush front and center as the face of the GOP and hope he becomes more outspoken. It's good to watch the opposition squirm.

Well Rush continues in the long tradition of Republicans. They have no solutions, blame everyone else for their failures, tell everyone things are hopeless so why try, and complain about how hard they work. I am sure we all have one of those people at work who always is kissing the bosses butt while taking credit for everything good that happens, and running and hiding when trouble comes. Rush is just a coward anyway that does not care about his own country, just his own little world. He is the poster boy for the new Republican, greedy, lazy, and ignorant. Now there is a great idea...sponsor boycott...at least contacting his sponsors for his unpatriotic remarks and threatening a boycott. Somebody listen to his show, if they can without gagging, and find out who his sponsors are. There are more people who want our President to succeed than fail.

The group that most wants Obama to succeed is the oligarchy that runs this nation and he's ensuring that they'll get their wish. Their Federal Reserve/government partnership concocted and is in the midst of a nice little money laundering scheme in which:

1. AIG grossly overpaid banks and other prominent financial institutions in the unwinding of their derivatives thus allowing them in Jan/Feb to be able to provisionally announce "profit."

2. Major hedge funds will buy crap loan ("toxic") assets from the institutions on a non-recourse basis; i.e., the risk will be undertaken by the Treasury aka taxpayers.

3. The hedge funds will book "profit" from asset management fees for several years and then write off the assets as losses.

What sector dominated campaign contributions for Obama? Think Goldman, Merrill, Bank of America, et al and you should be able to figure it out. The servant always does the master's bidding.
