Cerberus bought Chrysler and GMAC. Why? Well, one reason might be the destruction of the domestic company, it's liquidation, and Cerberus' linkage to foreign markets and production. The plan was to overcome the influence of the auto workers, and who can stop Cereberus? They have their hands into everything, and tentacles that extend into the government, international banking, and the defense industry. They are a megaplex conmpany - an international. Should we allow companies like this to be involved with our defense? They are difficult for our government to control, and are not linked strictly to US interests. So who are they? Its chairman is John Snow, former Sec. of Treasury. Donald Rumsfeld (a corporate wonder by any measurement) is an investor.
Is this patriotism? The forced liquidation of the heart of US production? Is dissolving these car companies even smart when it comes to our defense? Who's call is it?
SO strangely, Detroit is sort of like Wall St. Arianna should do some investigating.
It's about time the U.S. had a prez who understands the changes that are necessary. For too long the U.S. has relied on fossil fuels, tried to inhibit the education of it's citizens, and paraded the U.S.A. around the globe like we were Kings or something.
The two top things this country can to to protect itself is to get off fossil fuels, and to educate all it's people.
great post. the people who believe in fossils are the same ones who are still living in the glory of winning ww2 and the might we displayed during the cold war.

You must be blind dude.
Imagine an Obama supporter making fun of a person who is handicapped.
Obama makes fun of the Special Olympics and so does his supporters.
Bust up the auto unions and then next - teacher unions. We have the highest paid teachers in the world - and the stupidest kids.
Led by stupid parents like yourself who serve on school boards and know nothing about education. We do not have the highest paid teachers in the world you dolt. Maybe compared to Tawain, but not to the rest of Europe and Japan - where they revere teachers. The unions are not the problem, the corporate thugs and lack of spending on education are the problem. Of course I'm sure you're just fine with those folks.
Sounds like another Union busting exercise.
Well, say goodbye to any form of a standard of living.
sorry dude...we cant afford this standard of living anymore. We dont need 3 TV's, 3 DVD players, 3 Cars, 2 homes plus a time share. It wasnt real anyway and you knew you could not afford it when you bought it.... but oh I forgot you've got good credit. Time to grow up and shake off that adolescence America.
Busting up the unions will be a big step in the right direction.
Amen brother1
An what about the warrantees on vehicles???? Listen this is getting REALLY WEIRD, and I FOR ONE DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL.
It is going to be government backed. I doubt you read the entire document.
Who cares about the warranty? Why would anyone in their right mind buy a crap/overpriced American auto?
"Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different.
-F. Scott Fitzgerald, 1926
Here Here!! to a great piece of american literature. In all seriousness America is experiencing the results of the Robber Baron culture cultivated under George W. Bush. President Obama is trying desperately to save this union we call America and we have to back him.
Obama Bucks should be going to companies that are actually being innovative. Oh, what's that you say, they don't really need it... ? I guess that makes perfect sense. Wouldn't it be cool though if the Tesla Motors and Hydrogen on Demand/alt. fuel startups could be bootstrapped into major markets rather than saving these out of touch entities and their obsolete products?
I would hope there are other plans behind the scenes with much more substance. As a professor, I would not accept either of these as even rough drafts of strategic plans, business plans or even a minor case study for a successful company (let alone two companies that are failing). These could have been put together in about 20 minutes.
At least there is a strategic plan - 43 would be busily cutting brush in Crawford. I pity our president and his people, whatever he does results in gnashing of teeth and wailing by someone.
