I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Touching all the spots still sensitive from the Bush years, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee launched a new online effort on Tuesday pinning the economic malaise squarely on the shoulders of the Republican Party.

Titled "They Broke It And Won't Fix It," the campaign is a clear reminder that the Democratic Party still sees political capital to gain from the previous administration. The accompanying video accuses Republicans of pulling a "hit and run with our economy" by following the policies of the George W. Bush.

"Republicans have done a hit and run with our economy," reads the script. "For eight years Republicans backed President Bush's policies that let businesses go unregulated, rewarded runaway speculation and favored the wealthy. They broke our economy and now they don't want to fix it."

In addition to footage of different GOP Senators advertising their obstructionism towards Obama's agenda, the clip includes a shot of a despondent and injured woman, her car hit by a "red convertible" -- shown later with two carefree passengers driving away from the scene. The message is hardly subtle: the carefree excess of an affluent few has reaped damaging consequences for others.

Excellent, if we are to play politics, let's play GOOOD politics! I for one am happy to see the Dems grow a pair.

In January of 2011, after the Nov. 2010 election, we won't have to worry so much about the GOP obstructionists. Remember, they lost about 25 House seats in '06, then again in '08. Now they're behaving like spoiled brats on the playground because they have had their power stripped away.

They'll lose another 25 House seats and another 5 Senate seats in 2010, and then they can go back to their corners, suck their thumbs, change their diapers, and dream about the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan.

And the adults who replace them can go on correcting the massive mistakes made by the GOP since Gingrich's clowns took over the congress in '94, under the inspiration of the great deregulator, Reagan.

Go, GOP, onward and downward, under the great leadership of Rush Limbaugh.

Please let's get on the same page; we have to keep our eye on the prize. Getting the President budget through congress with all 3 initiatives intact!

Republicans call this ad unfair? Hey, if the situation were reversed and this was a Republican ad, one of those talking heads would have been Osama bin Laden.

As much as I HATE the ideals of the Republican party, the ad is a little dishonest. because it leaves out the fact that the democrats have had control of the house since 2006. They did a little rubber stamping of the Bush years themselves... have to be fair.

Depends on your meaning of controll. The Republicans have filibustered and vetoed every major legislation proposed by the Democrats. Is that what you call control?

Control of the House was not sufficient to block Republican initiatives which had already been implemented, and not nearly enough to overcome White House policies which were implemented with almost sinister cunning. It took two Congressional elections for the Democrats to gain control of both houses, and even now the Republican minority is playing obstruct, delay, and harass at every step in the legislative process. To suggest that the Democrats are somewhat responsible for the Bush/Cheney doctrines is merely to parrot a talking point which was initially promulgated by the Republicans.

It sure has wrecked terrible things upon so many. As each day goes by, I realize I did the best I could and that the collapse of our economy was due to evil greed. Hell no I am not taking it anymore. When they take me to court I will rise and point my finger at their attorneys and say they are the guilty ones.

HIT AND RUN

well, it's true, but the Democrats helped.

Vote for the man and his ideas, then work like hell to make sure he keeps them.

Oh, please do explain how the Democrats helped the Majority Party since 1994 get us into this mess?

By not winning enough elections until now?

Kind of an oddly-produced ad, but it seems effective, and it shows the repugs in the comical MSM talking head wall format that has become a caricature of itself. Definitely good to see Dems out in front on this though. I'm sick of the donkey spine deficit as much as I am the actual deficit.

Of course, Clinton is just as guilty as Bush (with the exception of unnecessary tax cuts - not mentioned in the ad) of letting businesses go unregulated, rewarding runaway speculation, and favoring the wealthy

Hey, I was a big Clinton fan, but even I can admit that NAFTA sucked and that he never should have signed Gramm's bill that allowed the banks to invest in risky ventures.

You're right, the message is hardly subtle, but then the situation is hardly subtle, either. The conservative "philosophy" has been tried and led to disaster in every conceivable way. Conservatism has proven that it is not a rational ideology. Of course there is still "political capital" to be made from this. This is an insight for the ages.
