This must be an open thread!!! Coleman is a JERK!!! He should be forced to pay Al Franken's attorney fees. The court system should also put this case on a fast track so that Franken is seated before the 2010 class of newly elected Democrats. I'm afraid by the time they seat Franken the Democrats will have about a 65 seat majority. And he will have missed all the fun and we won't get to see who the most scared Republican in the Senate is.

The last time I used the word jerk in a post it was retained for further scrutiny.

I'm tempted to say "Al Franken will be a disgrace to congress"...but compared to Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Frank, Dodd and the other losers...Franken might actually be a step up.

Franken will be senator, that much is certain. The GOP better get used to the idea.

So go ahead and finish this up so Franken can be seated. If Coleman wants to appeal, he can do whatever he wants...as long as MN has two senators in the meantime.

Let's hope some kids gather around Coleman and boink his head with plastic wiffle ball bats.

Coleman is a typical repub - whining, selfish and unwilling to accept that he can't have something he wants. So Minnesota's short a rep? He doesn't care. Let the people suffer. Of course, that attitude, shared by most of the repus in power, is why they shouldn't BE in power.

Amazing! Republicans stole two Presidential elections, yet the Dems can't get one legitimately-elected Senator seated in five months!

Absolutely amazing!

If he had been legitimately elected there would be no problem, but the Crooks in the state house found ballots, didn't count others, counted others twice, decided on their own what the intention of the voter was even though Big Al hadn't been voted for on that ballot, doesn't sound too ligimate to me, I stand corrected in a Demon-kratic controlled election that makes every dirty trick ok.

Let's hope Franken asks for and receives all his pay retroactive to the day he was supposed to be seated. He deserves every penny for putting up woth Norm and his antics all these many months.

I don't believe the day Reid gets some backbone on this issue will ever come.

And again, the only reason 60 votes are needed to overcome a filibuster is because that's the rule that the Senate made back in the 1970s. They could change that rule if they wanted to. Or, they could do away with the technical fillibuster and go back to the old days when politicians actually had to take the floor and talk nonstop to keep a fillibuster going. But wait, that would require backbone by the Democratic Senate leadership too. Not likely to happen.

I know there are pro and con arguments about both of these, especially because the same has to apply no matter what party is in the majority. But I'm so tired of the politicians keeping the status quo just so it makes their job easier instead of serving the needs of the people.
