Liam Neeson

TORONTO — Liam Neeson has completed work on "Chloe," the film he was shooting when wife Natasha Richardson died after falling on a beginners' slope at a Canadian ski resort.

The actor quietly slipped into Toronto for a couple of days last week to complete work on the thriller, also starring Julianne Moore.

Richardson died March 18 after falling and hitting her head during a ski lesson at Quebec's Mont Tremblant two days earlier.

The Tony-winning actress was buried at a private ceremony in upstate New York on March 22.

A publicist for the Atom Egoyan film "Chloe," Lisa Ghione, said Neeson completed his scenes on Friday, and the shoot wrapped Saturday.

You have an absolute right to my opinion

I hope he can put his career aside for a while and be with his boys as much as possible. Now is the time they'll need each other most. It's also a good time in the boys' development to strengthen their bonds as men. Don't smother each other, but be together as much as they can.

At 48, I realize the best friend I ever had and probably will ever have is my father. He is the only man who ever truly loved me.

Be that for your boys, Liam, and for yourself.

Films are expensive propositions, costing millions for downtime and risking dozens of jobs in the process. I think he showed, by his example, the best of the adage: "The show must go on."

my heart breaks for this man.. we saw him in Dunglaire while on a visit and again in NYC at the Irish Repertory Theatre...The town he where he lived and grew up was not the picturesque village seen in movies like, The Matchmaker. This is a man who has shown he has his values intact. God Bless, Liam.. .

The Neeson family is in my prayers. They need all the prayers through this difficult period.

Work, sometimes, saves you from being alone with your memories. My wife recently died of a brain tumor. Eleven weeks from diagnosis to death. I returned to work the next week to keep myself balanced. It's been four months and the pain is starting to subside a little every day. It's a process, I guess, that people who suffer these kinds of losses must go through. Best of luck with it Liam.

Neeson grew up in a fairly crappy town in distinctly crappy times. He may have risen a long way from there but all the signs are that he hasn't lost touch with the grittier realities of life.

I haven't really followed his films, but "Lamb", way back in the late 80s, when I was a student in Dublin, made an indelible impression. It's about a priest who runs away from an institution with a 10-year-old boy. And now he's out on a limb with two young boys, but it's for real. Well, I hope he finds everything he needs to cope. Sound man. Respect.

I lot of people were depending on him to finish this movie, but it must have been difficult for him. She was too young to die.

My condolences again to Liam Neeson and his family.

Side note: So the actors I saw a few weeks ago in Toronto filming a movie were indeed Liam Neeson and Juliane Moore. Sweet...

Worried about the boys. A tragic week, ending with a funeral Sunday of their mother and then Dad is gone back to work. Not great. It is so tough to integrate something like this even as an adult. They are 12 and 13, still very dependent on their mother's presence. And then alone, in the very early, traumatic stages.

Most people only get a few days off after a funeral, even a spouse's funeral, before they go back to work. And it sounds like he was only gone about two days. You have to be responsible to your kids, but you also have to be responsible to your job, even if your life has just fallen apart in the most horrific way.

She died a couple of weeks ago, and he was only gone for 2 days. I think it's his business how to manage things.

The funeral was a week ago Sunday. My comments expressed concern for the boys. Given whatever the givens he was dealing with, it doesn't change their experience. I was not telling anyone how to manage things.

I'm with you: he had responsibilities--costly ones in terms of maintaining jobs, which were at risk as long as the film went incomplete. I'm confident that his sons were surrounded by love and support and commend him for getting the filming done so he could more fully focus on what matters most.

I know the pain and loss Mr. Neeson must be going through, but let's not lionize his actions just because he is an actor. All of us have to pick ourselves up and go back to work after such a loss in our lives, and it is difficult for all of us.
07:42 PM on 03/31/2009
I great that he got that movie out of the way. Hang in there Liam, baby steps.
07:11 PM on 03/31/2009
God bless Liam and the children. God isn't responsible but he can
provide everything it takes to carry on.

Anytime a mere human tells me
what "God" can and cannot do,
I am awed at the presumptuosness.

The time for "God" to have "blessed"
Liam and the children -- and Natasha --
would have been to cushion her fall.

If you are waiting for someone to comment that they approve of the way you are obsessed with Natasha's husband and family..I hope you have a long wait.

No one obsessed. We simply participated in the global village in the best way----the mourning of the unexpected death of a loved one, something everyone can understand.

Not to mention, I for one was a huge fan of Natasha's, she was one of those people you never knew but felt like you did.

While you're sucking on your lemon think about the idea that there might be a universal thread.
