"Real Housewives" Countess Dumped By Her Count

Luann de Lesseps, the countess from "The Real Housewives of New York," is single. The 40-something American former model has been dumped via email by her 60-something husband Alex, with whom she has two kids.

Tuesday's NY Post confirms the rumors first reported Monday by New York Social Diary.

From the NYP:

A close pal said, "They decided to separate. She got wind he was seeing somebody and he didn't answer her when she called. He finally sent her an e-mail saying he was with an Ethiopian woman in Geneva and he was serious with her."

The revelation came as a shock to the countess, who celebrated her 16th anniversary with her husband on March 16.

"Luann was blindsided. She was just devastated," the close friend told Page Six. "They have basically lived apart for many years -- he lives in Europe and comes and goes as he pleases, but she never thought this would happen.

Word comes from across the sea, that New York Housewives' Luann deLesseps has flown off (desperately?) to Europe to see husband Alex in an attempt to save their crumbling marriage. Alex, the Count de Lesseps has, it is said on the streets of Geneva, taken up with a beautiful Ethiopian beauty who is not only quite a bit younger than he but also quite a bit younger than his wife.

In the meantime, the sixty-something count has slimmed down, tanned up and looks years younger, according to friends, which once again raises the age-old question: Ain't love grand?

Luann plans to keep the title, though. Her book on manners, "Class With the Countess," comes out next month.

Luann took the title and who wouldn't or use it. C'mon If you had a chance to marry a wealthy man I'd take the one with the titile over an AIG ceo anyday. Who is so righteous that they would turn down an opportunity of any kind. job and stature in life give me a break some of you people.

He needs to stop creating is my opinion on how many wives using his title and so what about what is family tree is. Look back at anyones and they have something worthy in ancestors. The problem is these titiled people have to still pay it isn't a free ride with a title. The titile is just pomp and who really cares anyway!!!

The new girlfriend will do everything in her power to cut off Luann and children. She's the B$*%H!

C'mon... he didn't dump her for the "beautiful" Ethiopian lady... no one cares. He dumped her because he now sees her behavior on the show and she has sullied his good name. It is not respectful of his position to be pushing her title in the face of everyone else, and it's not respectful of him to write a manners book when you have so little manners yourself. She is now "Dis-Countess Luanne".

The Count's great grandfather built the Suez canal, and worked on the Panama Canal... He also was chosen by France to represent France when the Statue of Liberty was presented to the US.... Luanne has done dis-service to his memory - not by doing the show, but by showing her true colors on the show (ie. her behavior at the Cancer Society dinner).

I have to agree. Luann comes off incredibly snooty while constantly trying to tell everyone that she's a Native American who grew up with very little.

People love a Cinderella story, but not when Cinderella turns into a stuck-up, pompous jerk. The reason people loved Diana and still love Fergie (despite the divorce) is because they remained down to earth by and large despite the title the happened upon through marriage

Luann is less gracious than those who were born with a title, always throwing it in people's faces. She could definitely stand a little humility, but I am sorry to see her marriage suffer. I don't wish that on anyone.

Please read the article next time. They seperated and she was harassing him (likely) and he sent a email saying he was with someone else. He merely avoided further harassment drama after he had ALREADY separated from her.

I'm not sure when I first knew I was addicted. Maybe it was when Simon wore his thong in Barbados or when Jill pointed out he was there off-season. It could have been when the C*ntess wore a leather headband and warning light to a concert, or when Bethenny met friends of her father and they gave her lingerie. (Other than the horrible fake implants, I refuse to take Bethenny's inventory.­)
I tried hard not to begin watching again this season, I really did. Then I saw previews of Alex and Simon moving into their "Tuscan farm house" in the Hamptons and I just couldn't stop myself. And I still can't. God help my poor soul.

Ending a marriage with an email speaks volumes to the substance and intimacy of their relationship. A 16 year marriage, with children, no less, ends with a few computer key strokes. If I was breaking the relationship with the guy who has mowed my yard for the past 3 years I would pick up the phone and tell him. Or gasp, maybe even walk out to the lawn tractor, while he's working and say, "hey Larry, I have hired this kid to mow my yard starting next week. He's younger and quicker than you and will not charge me as much". Well, I might leave off that last sentence. Then I would thank him for his past service and offer him some lemonade or water.

I guess it is just like Zsa Zsa Gabor who married a prince who purchased a title. And by the way, where and what was he Prince of ('scuse ending with a preposition)? Also forgot the former airline attendant who married a Hilton and is the mother of Paris. She actually had a show about having class like a Hilton. I have known and dated stews during the 60's/70's and didn't know any that had all this class (manners and pleasantries yes). All questions that people want to know.
