"Real Housewives" Countess Dumped By Her Count

Luann de Lesseps, the countess from "The Real Housewives of New York," is single. The 40-something American former model has been dumped via email by her 60-something husband Alex, with whom she has two kids.

Tuesday's NY Post confirms the rumors first reported Monday by New York Social Diary.

From the NYP:

A close pal said, "They decided to separate. She got wind he was seeing somebody and he didn't answer her when she called. He finally sent her an e-mail saying he was with an Ethiopian woman in Geneva and he was serious with her."

The revelation came as a shock to the countess, who celebrated her 16th anniversary with her husband on March 16.

"Luann was blindsided. She was just devastated," the close friend told Page Six. "They have basically lived apart for many years -- he lives in Europe and comes and goes as he pleases, but she never thought this would happen.

Word comes from across the sea, that New York Housewives' Luann deLesseps has flown off (desperately?) to Europe to see husband Alex in an attempt to save their crumbling marriage. Alex, the Count de Lesseps has, it is said on the streets of Geneva, taken up with a beautiful Ethiopian beauty who is not only quite a bit younger than he but also quite a bit younger than his wife.

In the meantime, the sixty-something count has slimmed down, tanned up and looks years younger, according to friends, which once again raises the age-old question: Ain't love grand?

Luann plans to keep the title, though. Her book on manners, "Class With the Countess," comes out next month.

If Alex has had that many wives at 60 then it's obvious that he is a bad husband!! LuAnn will count her blessings later when he goes to the next conquest and dumps ms ehtiopia. He should be sanctioned from starting more families and abandoning them!! A vasectomy would be right!

And how exactly is he abandoning his family? I'm guessing that he's financially doing MORE then his share in the picture here.
And, the kids are off at boarding school anyway, so there's no worries on the "at home for dinner" scene, either.

Ramona needs to loose her New Jersey accent if she thinks that she is the be all. Most people from that region if they are educated and or sophisticated they learn proper diction. Ramona's on something because no one in a normal state has the eye' popping, blinking etc..

LuAnn knew this before starting the show and that's why Alex has had little air time. This is the best way for her to get exposure. Alex's new girlfriend will use him and treat him bad in a few years. That's the gold digger in this scenario.

Ramona can have all the money but it doesn't buy class!!

I hate to say it, but with her holier than thou attitude, good thing she is no longer the countess.....she is crazy and should have known once the model aged, it would be traded in for a newer, prettier model......Funny, how that is really true, literally.

I wish no ill will on anyone, but what do these trophy wives expect? Really? The man married for beauty....So, wouldn't he want to always be around beauty? Once she is no longer beautiful in his eyes, then he will move on..(Personally, I think she is striking, but he is the COUNT).

Hey, live by the sword or die by it! She ran her game and married the "Count" because of his position and loot and I'm sure he went for her youthful appearance and beauty at the time. He now has found a younger prettier more exotic model to drive now so the "old" model gets retired.

When you think about it she should have expected it at some point in time, women to the Count and men like him, are just pieces on a game board to be moved and replaced at will.

I like Luann and feel sympathy for her and the children. What kind of person ends a 16 year marriage with an email? I'm on my first marriage. This is our 35th year. I can't imagine him or I having so little respect for each other that we end it in an email.

I dont think the 'countess' had a marriage like yours to begin with. He lived in Europe and she lived in NYC...I think they have led separate lives for a long while but she PRETENDED like there was so much more to it. As for the children I do feel for them but really how much of him have they had all these years? I don't think much especially when he had so little respect for family to begin with

The kid.. whom Alex thought was brilliant but couldnt do kindergarten work when tested, has to go to the French school, but their house is a death trap and unrenovated yet they must appear on the society pages and run through the streets of NY to the opera just to appear in the front and check the little bitty picture in the paper the next day...
