Universal health care? Nothing worthwhile will happen with people like Reid about. We are not interested in true health care reform because that would require starting from a blank piece of paper and a rational design method from the public interest point of view. Such a system would not cost more that what we pay for now. The system that politicians and lobbyists will design will cost more because its main aim will end up being just another vehicle for enriching corporations. Insurance companies will just dump their worst "clients" (the sick) to whatever entity government creates and they will keep the healthy. This will not be a reform - our "solution" will be an equivalent to the scheme in the toxic assets removal proposal. Our government is too far gone for real solutions - whatever they come up with, you can rest assured it will be designed for maximum transfer of wealth from many to few.

Agreed. Killing Americans is simply too profitable for our congress to seriously consider ending the practice.

Long, long time ago, a man came up with the idea of electric, the people didn't want it and thought it was the work of the devil. This will ruin the country and it's too expensive.

Long, long time ago, a man came up with the idea of the telephone, the people didn't want it and said oh no it's the work of the devil. This will ruin the country and it's too expensive.

Long, long time ago, a man came up with the idea of the automobile, the people didn't want it and said, this is the work of the devil. This will ruin the country and it's too expensive.

Present...Future a man and a woman came up with the idea of having health care for everyone because every citizen is worthy of it and in the long run it will lower costs for the employers and the citizens. The people no, no, no it's the work of socialism.

Present...Future a man and a woman...came up with the idea of having alternative energy sources because we can't be dependent on oil from countries who hate us. The people say, no, no, no we want to keep begging or warring for oil from other places. We don't want to be producers we want to be consumers.

Present...Future we want everything, but we don't want to spend any money to ensure we have a future. Why? Because we are afraid.

Because they dont understand investment, and to progress you need to invest and usually when a business wants to innovate they spend money upfront to save down the line and be stronger.

Somehow that doesnt correlate for the guys that love business.

See that's the take away. Dems KNOW they have to pay for it, neo-cons never worried about paying for ANYTHING. Examples, the two wars the created, the tax cuts for the rich, tax cuts for corporations. The Dems on the other hand, payed for poor child healt hcare by taxing cigarettes, not borrowing from China.

The chilling fact is the health care is not really the insidious plot that them pesky liberals have been hatching since last November. It's really about imposing the metric system (personally invented by the devil) and replacing our Biblically-based system of inches, gallons, and pounds with godless centimeters, liters and kilograms.

I don't care if there's no "plot" but I do mind that there doesn't appear to be a plan.

There is no need for more money for healthcare. We spend 3 times more per person than anyone else in the world.

Obama is wrong on his computerization.. good idea, but it will take a decade to implement. It only works for primary care physicians/internist/gynegologist.... offfers little savings to Major Specialist who see a patinet once or twice and yet where much/most of the money is spend.. infact most spent on a patients in his last 90 days...

It took 8 years to get eletronic billing working and the EOB electronically coming back from the insurance companies ... 7 years later not yet happening... Std. and computerizing all records is a task one hundred times greater.. no std. exicts across packages , no packages for specialist..

Do what Walmart does.. get rid of the middleman... Insurance companies... there is your only material savings besides national setting of drug prices..

Regards

Actually--all of the records in the hospital I worked are computerized. The nurses push the computer around every where they go. It has cut down drastically on medication errors and saves countless hours doing paperwork--thereby freeing up more time for actual patient care.

It is simple. If Reid says something, you may confidently consider it an utter lie. Reid is the very incarnation in the flesh of the phrase "mealy-mouthed".Now that WAS simple, wasn`t it? I doubt his fellow Mormons are very happy with this man. The Mormons in general represent a truthful law-abiding lot. Reid does not represent the Mormons very well. I recommend they excommunicate Reid.
Note: I am not a Mormon.Just someone who describes Reid as he is.

How's this for a plot Senator...

it's called TAXES!!!! Yes, I said it! If we want something that badly, that is so important to the health and well being of most Americans, let's use the time old tradition of PAYING FOR IT!

If I told you you could pay half of what you pay in premiums every year in taxes, and your basic needs are covered, nothing elective or cosmetic that isn't necessary (things like that), and you never have to pay an insurance company, wouldn't you want to pay for it???

I'm not up to speed on this, but if companies pay for cap and trade permits in exchange for drastic reductions in health care costs for their employees, I think they would be getting a significant deal.
