House Republicans are likely to drop another goose egg on the House floor when the budget comes up for a vote this week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Tuesday.

"I think I can count on not having any Republican votes on the budget," Pelosi told environmental bloggers on a conference call.

"Civil as we like to have the debate be, and as it was in the budget committee, [Republicans] offered 50 amendments and the Democrats, right down the line, from right to left in our party, rejected every one of their amendments, because they were not values-based, intellectually driven about the change we need for the future," Pelosi said.

Pelosi called on the bloggers to whip support for the package. "The first help that you can provide for us is to insist that people vote for the budget. Because without that, if the budget fails, we're all up the creek in term of education, healthcare and energy," she said. "So it's very, very important that the budget succeed."

Pelosi may have spoken too soon: Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao (R-La.), who once referred to himself as a "closet Democrat," told The Hill that he might vote for the president's budget.

Hey Obamaslobs....Olbermann comes on in a bit so make sure you DVR it so that way you can repeat what he says on this blog

Original thoughts would be appreciated

Olbermann didn't vote in the Presidental election, he said it was his way to protest. I don't care to hear anything he says. If you don't vote you can't complain about the administration.

Wow, I havent OWNED this many libs since my days in debate class

I love the "what is the Republicans plan?" argument.

Instead of defending what IS GOING TO BE VOTED ON....lets worry about something that is merely a counter proposal.

Then why come up with a plan, and turn around and say we should not focus on it. The republicans went on national TV with that no number plan. That is stupid.

For the first time that I can remember (and I can remember quite a few) we have a budget proposal that prioritizes the health and prosperity of the majority of our population. It provides for the basic, long-term necessities of a viable nation instead of catering to the selfish, shortsighted demands of manipulative industry groups. ...read more: http://cyclopsvue.blogspot.com/2009/03/congress-should-support-presidents.html

Big news, nancy. Any other spectacularly mindless predictions you can offer?
That being said (this woman is such a joke...)...

Why haven't the republicans offered a realistic plan of their own? They're doing such a good job of doing what they usually do- being a roadblock for anything not republican branded- but, true to form, they're not offering any alternatives.
Well..besides the reports of tax cuts for the wealthy.
What alternative universe are they living in that they honestly believe their minority wealthy base will keep them afloat in these troubled times? Why aren't they at least pretending to reach out to the People? In their arrogance, do they not realize they're burying themselves?
There comes a time where you've got to put down your own dog. Someone get a gun, cause the republican hound's gone rabid.

You want proof of Socialism???? What happened yesterday (begins with GM)????

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:03 PM on 03/31/2009

And how is telling a company that was ASKING FOR A GOVERNMENT BAILOUT that he would have to be replaced (by a private citizen and NOT a government employee) if they wanted MORE TAX DOLLARS proof that we are enacting socialism?

The delicious irony here is that the fact that GM is taking bailouts is far more socialistic than saying they would need new (private citizen) leadership before getting it.

You are just determined to prove how ignorant you really are, aren't you.

i saw a gm step down because he had no new ideas with his board of directors or the unions....he was a sacrificial lamb ,,,,,,how come it was not "socialism" when president Bush suggested that the CEO's for Fannie Mae step down.....

The president asked back in January during the hearing on Capital Hill for plans from each automaker CEO. The GM CEO did not provide one, so it is only right to oust a failing CEO. See the Dems will cast the poor leadership out, while the re-blimpbaughs will let a poor leader run the country in the ground like Bush and have nothing to say about it for 8 years.

The government would have to take over the auto industry completely for that to be socialism. You are confusing the GM bailout loans with talk of bank nationalization which hasn't happened yet. Even the TARP funds aren't socialism since the government doesn't run the entire banking industry.

Socialism requires that the state own and distribute the means of production. (see: Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, most African nations)

See the difference?

Can people stop shouting 'Socialist' or 'Communist' or 'Hedonist', or whatever phrase you heard 'Bile'O'Reilly' shout today, until you actually understand what it means.

In a 'socialist' society govt controls production of everything and owns everything (usually on behalf of the population) and everyone gets given the same compensation. For this to be true Obama would have to confiscate everything that everyone owns and split it up equally among the whole population. This is a bit different from firing someone or controlling a company (or several companies) that were part purchased by the last president.

It really pe'es me off. G W Bush gave 750Billion to the banking/insurance industries on a 'no questions asked' basis for which he got some stocks in said companies worth absolutely 'F' all. No one cried 'socialist'. Because it was 'no strings/no questions asked' this money has been almost completely wasted as the companies didn't do what they said they would (eg. start lending again) and instead used it as a big slush fund. Now Obama is stipulating some rules on what happens with further money he's the king of socialism.... get real.

Hmmm, let's see. If not for us in the US, then for whom? Missing billions in Iraq? Huge and ugly US Embassies in Bagdad? Millions for war profiteers that build showers that electrocute our poor soldiers? Oh, and of course, the GOP "budget" - huge tax cuts for the weatlhy and nothing for the rest of us.

Can we all get along and see if we can get healthcare and a bit of education ? I don't mind if my children and grandchildren do have to pay for it. We all have to give something back. That's exactly whats wrong with society today- instant gratification. There is nothing wrong with all of us bearing the brunt for the things we want. Healthcare ain't free, education ain't free, and housing ain't free. If we allow the talking points to distract us we will never get anything accomplished. Hey, I'm already paying for somebody's debt.

GOP- the "Grand Old Party" seems to oppose anything liberals propose just because they are "liberal" proposals. Everyone on the floor of congress knows that time is finite and costly, within their chambers. The time & money they waste passing the new budget through- fuels the stereotype of another "government operation". "Government Operation" being synonymous to incompetence.

The GOP denied passage, 100% , all 80 amendments of the new budget. The U.S. cannot wait and watch political bickering when everything seems to be bankrupt.

Read this and who do you think of????

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals, with a fair or egalitarian method of compensation

It's clear you didn't get a coherent talking point from your overlords, so all you have is "the dems will fail hahahaha".

Wingnuts are kind of pathetic when they don't get their talking points. "Going off script" is a pretty bad idea for someone with your mental limitations.
