Unemployment Office

The Unemployment Olympics were held in New York on Tuesday.

A laid-off computer programmer came up with the idea to lift spirits of the jobless with events including Pin the Blame on the Bosses, a telephone toss and a race to the unemployment office.

From the AP:

Dozens of unemployed people got the chance to do exactly that during the homespun, tongue-in-cheek Unemployment Olympics at Manhattan's Tompkins Square Park on Tuesday.

In a twist on the classic game Pin the Tail on the Donkey, participants pulled a hat over their eyes and spun around before using a pushpin to attempt to Pin the Blame on the Boss.

Competitors also played a game of Office-Phone Skee Ball.

Nick McGlynn attended. He was laid off in November and said he's thrilled to have an activity to fill part of his day.

In France they are taking Executives under control and demanding change!

We are fortunate in America that we Obama who can overrule GEITHNER/SUMMERS/BERNANKE and make the law changes to stop the ELITE from controlling America and the Elite from controlling the World! He can rebuild America's Industrial base and get America back to creating REAL WEALTH for the Worker!

We should DEMAND as they do in CANADA that the Executive can NOT make more than 20 TIMES what his Lowest Paid Employees make. Instead of almost 400 times what the Average American Makes!

Can you imagine how quickly the Executives would raise the pay of their lowest paid workers!

"Can you imagine how quickly the Executives would raise the pay of their lowest paid workers!"

Can you imagine how quickly the best and smartest people in this country would stop going into industries that actually require intelligence and higher education?

Obama appointed Geithner and Summers. What makes you think he would go against their recommendations for the economy?

Keep the commie nonsense in Canada please.

AMERICA, TELL AMERICAN CORPORATIONS OUTSOURCING TO `KISS OUR MULTI-CULTURAL A$$" " Boycott Their Products.

http://thecapt.blog-city.com/america_tell_american_corporations_outsourcing_to_kiss_our_m_18.htm

......A PORTION OF THIS POST:
With the poisoning in your sea food, pet food, tooth paste, inferior tires, lead in your children"s toys, etc. coming from China, where so-called American companies take away Americans' good paying jobs to ship them overseas where the labor is dirt cheap with no benefits and almost no regulations for product safety. This is all to have higher profit margins. They are selling products to us at prices that were no cheaper (and in most instances more expensive) than when Americans were producing them and they are less safe. Now that we"ve been finding more and more products inferior, many so-called American companies say they will make the adjustment, but Americans will have to pay 10% more in price. NOW AIN"T THIS A MUTHAF**KER?! ARE WE STUPID?! ARE WE WILLING TO ACCEPT THIS?

The coming collapse of IT jobs and wages
http://blogs.computerworld.com/the_coming_collapse_of_it_jobs_and_wages

When a homeowner cuts the price of a house dramatically, real estate analysts have a word for it: capitulation, a surrendering to market forces. Something similar is arriving for IT workers.

A bellwether is IBM. Its workforce in the U.S. declined 5% last year to 115,000, but its workforce in Brazil, China, Russia and India grew 15% to 113,000. The vast majority of these workers are in India.

IBM isn’t providing any details regarding its recent round of layoffs, which may be between 4,000 to 5,000 employees in its Global Business Services unit – one of its most profitable. But IBM’s offshore strategy is clear enough.

In 2006, IBM produced a chart illustrating the stark differences in wages between India and the U.S. and presented it to analysts in Bangalore....(CLICK ON LINK FOR THE REST OF THIS ARTICLE & CHART)

I FOUND THIS POST ELSEWHERE & THOUGHT I'D POST IT HERE - IT SAYS IT ALL!!

ALSO, IBM IS SENDING JOBS TO INDIA. IT WAS ANNOUNCED JUST A WEEK OR TWO AGO.

I THINK I CAN LIVE WITHOUT IBM PRODUCTS...HOW ABOUT YOU?...READ ON:

"What is happening is economic treason, no different than political treason or military treason.

When a nation fails to protect it's own citizens from greedly corperate pirates whose sole ambition is to increase their own weatlh and force American citizens out of work, then that nation no longer deserves the loyalty of its people.

When the call comes for our children to take up arms tell your military and political leaders to look in india for cannon fodder as our children are too busy trying to find work. "

Most of IBM's products are not geared towards you. Instead most of their business comes from providing IT business solutions. IBM got out of the personal computing business a long time ago.

If there are no jobs out there HOW are you going to get to work?
Maybe you need to pretend you are unemployed in NY and start looking for a job. Lets see how far you get.

As someone who was unemployed for an extended period of time, I can assure you that even in this time of few available jobs the best way to get one of those jobs is to be out looking for one as opposed to throwing office supplies and acting like children.

Someone in NY got a job yesterday but not any of those "olympians".

mean the same in the US as it does in other english-speaking countries?
