ABC News:

The will-they-or-won't-they saga over a Senate GOP budget alternative is producing a concrete proposal after all. Sort of.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has been working with several of his colleagues to formulate a full-on alternative to the Democratic budget -- and has it ready to introduce on the Senate floor this afternoon, according to Senate aides.

At this point, I'd offer up the numbers, just to stop the nonsense. I agree, however, with the Republicans who suggest this is a waste of time and is taking away from the real job they should be doing, which is to debate and compromise on the actual budget bill.

I did not approve of this jab by Obama. It was a cheap shot, and it's a waste of money and time on the part of congressional leaders. It was a TRUE distraction.

It's time to set aside these childish tactics.

He admitted he knows nothing about the economy
but yet he draws up a budget? Huh?

And his economic advisor was Phil Gramm, who helped get us into this mess in the first place. But then, I'm probably just a "whiner", according to Gramm, because my 401K and my husband's job has been so profoundly affected.

The Republicans should just be honest and declare that, as per the economic ideology at the core of their values, they believe in non-intervention in the economy. If the stand behind their beliefs, they should declare that the market should be left alone to heal itself and that government intervention will only prolong the healing process. If this is what they really believe, then defend it. It will make no difference at this stage that the public would find that unacceptible; its not as though they have anything to loose. They will not be getting back into the White House anytime soon. It may not be a popular position polically but so what? Just say what you really believe!!

Rather than this, Obama's fiscal policy - which they are clearly ideologically opposed to (ie its socialism/communism) - is met with a confusing mish-mash of responses: blunt resistance, agreement, dishonesty, hedging, praise, refusing to take funding money, carping from the edges, censure or silence. No wonder everybody's confused.

The should have the courage of their convictions if they want to represent themselves as a viable alternative to the current administration. .

I agree. If you follow the trends in their economic pursuits to their ultimate conclusion, you have a country in which THE RICH pay no taxes, and the government spends no money to help the people of the country.

John McCain said he didn't know about economics but, remember during one of the debates, he knows where Osama bin Laden is located!!! Why won't John McCain tell us and not keep that to himself????

He actually said that he knew how to catch him, but I agree that he should tell us. I rather suspect that it is something like: "Turn a big box upside-down and prop it up with a stick..."

It keeps Bushes tax cuts for the rich, also for corporations, cuts 4 to 7% on spending ie. medicare, social security and locks in AMT for 5 years. This is to help the people. I think not. He should stay away from economics it is definately not his strong suit. He should just retire or here is a novel idea - finally start working for the people of Arizona.

It is actually a much better draft than Obama's (with the exception of too much spending on the wars). All the neocons (eg Lieberman) have now jumped the ship and became democrats, so John is free to do the right thing as never before. The current budget of the Fed and friends (a.k.a. Obama's budget proposal) is a disaster for the public and great for the bankers.

Apparently, even McCain isn't buying the 19 page budget pamplet, the GOP came up with earlier in the week.

The one that they admitted, could increase the deficit by $300 billion a year more than President Obama"s budget.

The one that will not improve the infrastructure or add jobs.

The republicans are having a real hard time getting their heads around Obama winning the presidency and it is no longer amusing. The man has been in office over two months, and he is working it. His wife, Michelle, has assumed her roll as first lady with works following. So the repubs need to back off and work on preparing candidates for the next election, because they lost this one.

If the Wealthy can't get tax cuts using the Social Security Trust Fund to off set the tax cuts then the Republicans will not vote for it ~~~~~~~

Well lets see.
1. McCain himself told us he really does know much about economics.
2. The GOP uses Horny Joe as an economics advisor.

Therefore we must have Horny Joe analyze and evaluate McCain's Budget to let us know if
it passes his expert review.
